I think this is more than strong enough, but I would like to hear your opinion. This brake master cylinder/ clutch master cylinder mount is made from two pieces of 3/16 steel that I plug welded and welded all around the perimeter.

Now I have no question that the bracket is strong enough, but it is only held on with the 3 bolts that would hold on the OEM master cylinder. Is this strong enough or should I weld the bracket to the OE pedal****embly with added gussets?

  2. Your over thinking it. Looks great. I think it will last longer than the car.
    IMHO.

As long as you're using good hardware that's plenty strong enough. It's a lot heavier duty than stuff used in modern junk that doesn't fail.

Ok now I can move on to something else. I was just worried about that "O*****!" moment when you slam on the brakes and push in the clutch.

yikes dude! that setup is looking for trouble, you need to tap, thread and install 2 studs to mount that master cylinder. looks like a hardware store bolt is holding it on so fix it or your gonna have huge surprise!:eek:

I would hope thats a mockup picture and not the finished product.

if not,, you should be expecting that oh***** moment you mentioned earlier.

The carriage bolt holding the master cylinder on? is already bent, or at a weird angle. And it's hard to tell from the picture, but how are the 2 plates welded to one another? May want to re-think this install.

  13. The plate looks heavy enough, I'm not feeling the deep relief for the bolt heads. Not the best thing to do, the plate has the strength of only what's left under the bolt head.
If you plugwelded around the bolts so they are now studs I think it will be more than enough
the pedal mount to frame looks ok.
    Loose the grade 2 hardware.

It should be fine. If any question use grade 8 bolts.

  15. The plate is nothing more than a spacer. It is under no stress on the brake side and is perfectly safe. The problem is the carriage bolt(s). As someone else said, use some proper hardware. Make a new one, drill and tap it for studs. Loctite the studs or lightly tack weld them or peen them at the ends. You could go with countersunk flathead bols also. Good ones, not the***** from Home Depot in the little plastic bags

The carriage bolt is only for mock up. It was the best I could find in my stash. I will use grade 8 bolts when I put it together for the last time. Hell I might even use two of them :D

  17. Carriage bolt are not allowed for mock up. Use only drywall screws or 16d nails:p
