    Ive welded plenty of frames with a lincoln 125sp. As long as you prep right its all good.

    Did none of you all notice that "That guy with the coupe" pulled this thread from doing a search, as it was two years ago this thread was started? Doing your homework and searching, thats a good thing!

    I use the Lincoln SP-135 at work almost everyday to weld on frames and it does the job every time. It's all in the prep work, knowing how to use it and knowing it's limitations. I also have a 480v welder at my disposal and I use that only when necessary, I used it today to weld some 3/8" plate on a steel cage.

    Size may count but penetration sure does and (preparation) foreplay works a treat.

    If the gap is right, the operator knows what he's doing, and he makes more than one correct p*** on thicker metal, it is possible. If in doubt, have him **** weld a cuppla strips of thick metal, and take it to your local Vo-Tech to have it tested.
