Ya know what "makes me smile"? Reading all these replies. Seriously, go back and read them all thru again. Talk about deversity! I love it. You guys & gals are what keeps me coming back for more. There is no right or wrong. The beauty is in the eye of the key-holder.
Yes, I would like a hot rod custom. My '50 Chevy is in the works to be a full-on custom so I don't need another one of those (not that more than one would be wrong) and even my tub had frenched-in '59 Caddy taillights and a '40 Ford dash (custom touches for sure) and it was a hot rod.
This car will have a forward rake, wide whites, full 'caps, custom treated taillights, SBC with dumps and probably scallops over the DP90. And I'm still pondering that hoodless idea. Skirts? Still up in the air. Who knows what tomarrow will bring?

I like customs,,,I don't have a car that could go from being a custom to being a rod just by removing the skirts! [IMG]but yours can. [IMG] HRP

    or even easier then that-

at the next show leave the hood closed to show that it's a custom

or open it to show it as a hot rod!

i think the skirts and the lack of rake kinda push it over that edge. though it'd be a MILD custom as is.

i do dig it with no hood ad al those carb stacks stickin up. maybe run tri-power or a 4 duece setup. not cheap but MUCHO cool when runnin sans hood. maybe paint the firewall a different color. should think about that before you drop in the mill.

and piss on those guys that say you should build it YOUR way. i think you should build it MY way [IMG]....

Skirts dont make a custom any more than a chrome aircleaner on a stock SBC or flames on grannys stocker makes a hot rod.

You want custom then do any or all of the following:

Nose, deck, shave, frenched, Olds grille, chop, louvers, dechrome. I think you get the idea.

A custom means you change things, not just glue on a visor and skirts along with dummy spots.

    thank you.

in it's present state it looks a little like a hot hod.

in reality it is niether hot rod nor custom.

it's just an old car waiting to see some pavement.

Drop the tail another 3 inches and you'll have a very tasty mild custom. Keep the skirts, maybe add some spots, but don't even think about screwing it up with one of those ugly-*** uncle-Wilmer sunvisors.

Rebels were nice, but I prefer the more luxurious Matador.

call it whatever you want, who cares. do what you like to it, and if it doesn't fit exactly within a certain catagory, then make up your own new name for it. i love to see people be creative and do something different, thats what makes it interesting. people all have thier own taste, thats why our cars don't all look exactly the same. just my 2 cents.
