I have been driving a 39 for 14 years now with 4 1/2 inches clearance at the chin. I have hit the transmission pan more often than the chin. The chin has taken a few hits but you can only see the scratches on the bottom when the car is up on blocks for maintenance.

I have learned to dodge man hole covers and give myself plenty of room behind the car I am following so I have time to swerve out of the way of road debris. Driveways and speed bumps are my worst problems. I have just learned which ones I can navigate and avoid the others when I can.

My latest project has the 4 inch dropped axle and reversed spring like yours. I have a spare chin set aside for the inevitable road rash that will occur while I learn just where I can drive the car. I figure a front spring change may be in order but first I will see how the reversed spring works just because the 39-40's look so good in the down low.

    From my past experiences....

My limit is when you change lanes and start taking up the reflectors.... The people behind you generally don't like that. Also the blue ones don't come up as easy as the white ones...

4" looks OK with nothing below the scrub line.

  4. LOL Bots dots, they don't have 'em here. When I was younger and living in the Bay Area **I put my foot down on a bots dot to see what it felt like to my tires. Maaan it felt like someone hit me on the bottom of the foot with a cannon ball.

Sometimes really low + minor obstacles can wreak havoc with all sorts of automotive endeavors.

Yes, that's a wheel mounted in a 3/16th thick skid plate.

Henry.....It's too low. I'll trade you the original axle out from under your coupe for the new dropped axle.
Oh, wait! I'm using your old axle right now! 34axleinstalled.jpg

Here in NZ the cert. rules are pretty comprehensive regarding how low a car can be and remain legal.
Basically nothing should s****e the ground in the event of a flat. I think the cops use 4.5 inches as a general rule. Our LVVTA cert manual has diagrams and so on about this stuff.
