Finally got around to pulling the speedo to lube it. Trying Paul2748's suggestion with a small amount of 3in1 oil. Is this the 'small oil hole at the top' as suggested in my other thread? I can't tell if this is a cap or if there's a small screen at the bottom. I tried prying it off but it wouldn't budge and these old eyes can't tell if there's a screen or not. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes, that is the weep hole to lube the speedometer. Just use a few drops of light oil like "3 in 1" sewing machine oil.

That's it. Mine had some sort of wick material in it. I just dropped the oil on the wick and let it soak in

Thanks for posting that picture and asking that question evintho, I have a jumpy speedometer at low speed and was going to try this. I have an old speedometer out of another car and was under the impression the oil hole was at the top, did a quick look and didn't see anything. Didn't realize you had to turn it upside down, DUH!
