my story is lame, but it's funny because it's so lame. one of my cars 'auditioned' for that t.v. show "hope and faith" on abc, the one with kelly rippa and that guy who played jefferson on "married with children" and faith ford from "murphy brown". i flatbed the car up to silver cup studios in new york, about 150 miles each way from me. the producers come out to see what the car looks like and what it can do (this one had a hydraulic suspension). all of this nonsense took hours, and there were several 'meetings' by the producers about the car, so i wandered around the set and watched the actors do a dry run of the show, more nonsense which also took hours to get through. at the lunch break, i was talking to kelly rippa about her days on a little show called "dancin' on air", cheeesy! turns out, because of camera angle problems, they went with a convertible instead of my car, but i was paid $1600. for the car's time and the operator's time (me). that's more than i would have made if i hadn't taken the day off work, and now i have an 'agent' for my cars. so to get to the point, i was curious if anyone here had their car used for a movie or video or something other than a magazine photo. tell us your story...
Steve McQueens son, Chad, rode one of my Harleys in a movie called 'Where the Red Fern Grows, part 2'. The Maroon 1946 in this pic . I have been riding this Harley for 28 years.
If you visit "World of Coke" and take in their digital story telling exhibit, you've a chance of seeing a tale involving my car and trailer. In 1997 Dana Atchley found me on the internet and then came up here and shot for two days to put together the the three minute segment. Every once in a while someone will come up and say "I saw you in Vegas" mike
A '57 Olds I usta have, was in "A Perfect World" starring Kevin Costner and Clint Eastwood. My car was an extra in a scene with Eastwood. I didn't get no $1600 bux though!

[/ QUOTE ] They used my 50 chevy fleetline in that one too. It's just parked on the street in a couple of scenes. I got the $1600 Buzz,.... Oh wait maybe it was $16.00
My rad '57 was shot for (and appeared on) "My Classic Car" w/Dennis Gage way back in June of '96..does that count? R-
My roadster was originaly channelled and was the main car in the movie Hot Rod Girl, it was also in 2 episodes of Highway Patrol, the car came to the east coast around 57 or 58.
The NEW YORK POST did a feature two page spread back in '02 on my club and my car ('51 Merc) as well as my mug were on some of the photos, does that count?
My Mom's old 47 Chevy convertible was used in a commerical for Head Skis. It was also an "extra" in John Water's Cry-Baby... The coolest part about that is that my Mom got to have dinner with Rikki Lake, John Waters and Johnny Depp. I begged her to kidnap him, but it didn't work. Stacey
[ QUOTE ] I didn't own it but I drove it a lot back in '67 and '68. It was pretty famous.... [/ QUOTE ] And who might you be? Adam West?
Barry Levinson stole my car for one of his movies. He was filming "Liberty Heights" in my neighborhood in downtown Baltimore years ago. I talked to them about using the '56 Buick I had at the time, but the flick was set in '53 so my car was "too new". Two days later when I went to leave for work my car was not where I parked it. It turns out that one of the "car wranglers" thought it was one of their cars the night before, loaded it on a rollback, and stuck it in the next scene several blocks away. They were pretty embarrassed and apologetic...and they paid me their daily rate for the use of the car ($200). Made me an hour and a half late for work, but I got a good story about it. Curt
I just sold a car to jesse James from WCC. He bought a car from me today... does that count hopefully it wont be seen on monster garage
[ QUOTE ] Barry Levinson stole my car for one of his movies. He was filming "Liberty Heights" in my neighborhood in downtown Baltimore years ago. [/ QUOTE ] Great movie.
Wow, $1,600.00 per day, that is way more than anyone I've known got renting a car to a movie set. Two hundred dollars per day is what I hear is the norm.
let me clarify: they DO NOT pay $1600 per day, they paid me $1600 because i was told they were committed to using my car beforehand, and after finding out it wouldn't work for what they needed, they were 'committed' to paying me the amount that we all signed the documents for. but please realize, i had damn near a thousand dollar tow bill for transporting the car back and forth. still makes a good 'cheesy' story. and if i knew nads had sex with kelly rippa, i never woulda went down on her, eww! i feel so dirty! tred.
sort of: tuesday on Rides, they were rolling off pics of ultimate flame jobs, and they showed my truck and my pop's coupe (flamed) at Nats last year. pretty lame but when you're not expecting it and see your ride on the tube, BITCHIN! this was the approximate shot rural
I also had a three way with Kathy Lee Gifford and Angela Lansbury in the bed of my '59 El Camino. Sorry I ruined it for you tredboy, I shoulda kept my mouth shut. I once got paid $450 for one day for the use of my '54 Chevy for a Hard Rock Cafe brochure. it was great, they fed me, got me liquered up and paid for a taxi to take me home. I also get to see the hot ass model in skimpy outfits. It was the easiest $450 I ever made, except for that time I sold a quarter bag of tea to Bob Sagget in Times Square.
[ QUOTE ] Sorry I ruined it for you tredboy, I shoulda kept my mouth shut. [/ QUOTE ] apparently i should have too tred.
[ QUOTE ] a little show called "dancin' on air", [/ QUOTE ] God Damn Tred........ Major flashback. My best friend's ex wife was a PA on that show. My car was used for an advert for Pepboys 2 yrs ago. Steve

the "not that theres anything wrong with it" episode. the one were the reporter thinks jerry and george are lovers..im in the coffe shop sitting directly across from them with a denim jacket and a pomperific head of hair.
Is my car famous, not sure yet. This pile of parts got Barry Meguiar to stop dead in his tracks and shoot a 15 minute interview for "Car Crazy". It was planned for a February broadcast along with other Hershey Flea Market shots and interviews. Guess this ends the Goldchainer image of the show.
[ QUOTE ] my Mom got to have dinner with Rikki Lake, John Waters and Johnny Depp. I begged her to kidnap him, but it didn't work. [/ QUOTE ] why would you want your mom to kidnap john waters? and what are head skis anyway? me.
