Anyone one here running a 8ba with stocks cylinder heads and a Isky 400jr cam? I read that this would have some clearance issue? Can i clearance the heads myself if so??? Thanks
The valves will most likely hit the head way before they reach full lift. Been over 50 years since I built a flathead with a 400 Jr, but IIRC, it took a flycut of .150" in the Edmunds aluminum heads I used. Ask around and you may find some old guy who still has the cutter and the setup fixtures required. I'd hate to know I was facing the job of cutting these out by hand on cast iron heads. Seems that I've seen some of the aluminum heads sold today that come clearanced for a .400" lift cam.
