I have a Isky 505b cam all I can find stamped on it is Isky Magnum 08 61 RR505B. I would like to know what rocker ratio I can run with this. I hear if it is older 1.5 is my only option but if it's a newer grind a may be able to use fe rockers. Or maybe i have it all wrong. Please advise. Mike
The stock rocker ratio was 1.73.... I am using a stock cam with Harland Sharp billet rollers. That required the MOON valve covers for the extra bulk. I know Vintakes (John) has sold some of those Isky cams, so you might ask him.
the isky man has not returned my call what i ended up doing that is working out so far is i took a aircraft grade aluminum bar 1 inch by 1 1/2 wide and 19 inches long i drilled out the holes for the stands and cut them down by one inch and used the same bolt and bolted them to the top of the aluminum bars, i had a crane cam screw in stud kit ford 302 left over from my 347 i drilled out and tapped the holes for the screw in studs then i used mopar 1.5 roller rockers you are going to need a rev kit if you dont want to cut down your valve spring seats for modern double springs a chevy 409 spring will work that is what the isky man told me his dad used when he made the cam there is a rocker from a pont late 50s that will fit the mel/fe shaft but finding one that is adjustable is abought hard as finding the damn isky ones you can make a rev kit from a 1/4 flat alum and use a rear brake kit or the springs from a 3/4 truck any make they all the same. with the top you have to drill out the tops if you dont know what a rev kit is go on ebay or comp cams and research pics they are easy to make
Thanks for the info. I'm sure you will here from me again. This engine is going to be fun, but is a bit of a challenge to build.
