Hello, I was wondering if anyone out there has some pics of Figure 8 cars from Islip. Iam looking for my dad because his father, my grandfather, used to build them for people for many years. I know 2 or 3 of the numbers, 47, 147, 222. I know there are more because I can remember going there to watch and they knew everyone there. If anyone out there can help Thank You.

Sorry,no pics but i do have fond memmories of islip speedway.I grew up a short distance from the speedway and we could hear the stock cars running on the weekends. My dad had a 56 ford that used to run on the 8th mile drag strip and my wife worked in the snack bar as a teenager. It was a sad day when they closed it down.there are severel groups devoted to vintage stock car racing in the north east , and there are still guys around that raced at islip.I'm sure if you do some digging you will come up with som pics. 5. What years are you looking for? The car numbers don't ring a bell. I ran there from 1982-1984 and raced the last night before it closed. A true tragedy since it was 10 minutes from where I live.

You can email Marty, he'd probably have the information you want and just roll it off. There was another Islip site that was up, haven't checked it in a while. Another one is Lasheefs, again I haven't looked at it in a while, link is below.

Hey my dad use to do the towing back in the day for the speedway. Dont remember if it was Lawrence's wrecking service, or Lawrence's salvage.. something like that.
