Projects ISO 331 hemi long nose roller cam

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by moparob, Apr 14, 2020.

  1. Can’t post to the classifieds for some reason so I’ll post here.

Like the title says I’m looking for a 331 hemi long nose roller cam. I have seen lots of short nose 54 and later Cams but I am specifically looking for the 51 to 53 long nose variety in roller lobe trim. Let me know what you’ve got.

Pic for your attention and what it will go in.

Do they even make them? I would think that they did back in the day, but they have to be few and far between these days. What would it take to convert your engine to use the later cam? With a car like that, you should use an aftermarket aluminum timing cover anyway.

With the '54 short bell in my dirt car, I went to an aluminum front cover and intake manifold and took 75 lbs off of the front of the car. It allowed me to eliminate a serious "push" problem the car had.

You cannot post to the classifieds from the phone app.

You need to be on a regular computer.

Why? It not like anyone is going to see it.

  7. You can use a later model 331/354 short snout cam in your hemi. I forget exactly what I did to convert mine (was 45 years ago!!) but it was simple. I think I got a conversion kit that consisted of a spacer washer the thickness of the cam retainer plate and a 354 timing chain set.

The spacer is for using a LA timing chain/gears. A 354 cam & OEM timing set up should be a bolt in.
