Almost everyone of us old rodders have experienced this. Example:We are all excited about our new car project and things are going right along. One of the things that is required with this hobby in order to get the project done is to( order parts from vendors).Normally we always remember to asked the vender"do you have this item on hand and when can you get it off to us". Hopefully the answer is soon and we go ahead and order it and yup, after one month you are still waiting and your project that you are all wrapped up in is put on hold. We are going through this right now .It kind of takes the wind out of one's sails. Maybe it's something we just have to learn to deal with ?? We are new with this website and enjoy it immensely; our question is : can we obtain from this website (the good vendors) that are honest and courteous from ones past experiences and share this info with all of us with no agenda. Maybe another area of this website does this already ?, although this is the only area I use except cl***ifieds. Not good with computers.. Gene
The Alliance Vender area for good vendors I just went through this with my local Vintage Ford dealer. Waited 8 months for cab mounts for a 56 F100 and a bolt kit for a 37 Deluxe I was on a cycle ride and dropped in on a Sat and asked for my money back and the guy tells me, we expect them next week. I said, well, it's been 8 months I'll take the cash please. Took them 6 months to get me the 37's floor kit. From now on I'll try to go direct to manufacture if I can. Also a hit list on the HAMB with bad resellers and cl***ified posters Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App
Buy from HAMB Alliance vendors. You can also do a search for a specific vendor that you are thinking of buying from. For instance, maybe you're thinking of buying an aludium modulator from WeGotAllThe Parts, Inc. Search the forum for WeGotAllThe, because most of the time if there's a bad vendor around, someone will have posted about them.
I ordered a set of male dovetails for my '36 from MACS exactly one year ago (11/2013) I emailed their Customer Service (again) to ask for an update and they told me that the ETA was November 14th. I wonder which year that Nov. 14th will be ?? I would have cancelled the order a long time ago, but I want to see how long it'll actually take them to get the parts to me.
If the answer is "soon" instead of "yes it is in stock", then I will cancel the order and figure out another way to do what needs to be done.
Funny how much stuff is "in stock" when you order it; but "back-ordered" when you check to see why didn't get it.
If at all possible I like to go directly to the source to actually see the product. Too many times I've ordered something and although I got it in a timely fashion it was not as what is was made out to be. A good example of what I mean is that just recently they opened up an Eastwood store in the area and a lot of the stuff there resembles Harbor Freight (China) but looked good in the catalog. Would have been disappointed to have to send it back.
for me if its not in stock , I will not order it , I will ask them to call me when its in stock . if they do not want to call they do not want my business , I am not a bank for them to use my money for several months . and I have had several suppliers call back when its in stock.
I use Joe's Antique Auto in MA. for early V8 stuff. Joe always tells me what to expect with quality and/or delivery. Check him out great guy to do business with.
