Yeah none of it just happens. I just threw my line out on this one. I wanted it, sure...but I could live without it. He was asking 12,500.00 for it. I offered about half that. 56's are all over the place price wise, but they don't dip too far below 5,000.00 unless they are really tough. I wanted to be in it right, but also didn't want to steal it. It had been for sale for about 3 weeks total, and he told me he hadn't had much action on it and figured his price was too high. I just be honest, and know what I'd like to pay. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and sometimes you meet in the middle.

Also, standing there looking at it, he asked if my offer was all I was going to pay. I said yes, it was that or nothing, and also mentioned my bank was across the street (by luck) and I could be back with my trailer in an hour. That also helped.

Great truck, do keep updates coming as you go thru it.
Totally agree with Uncle Bob, great way to make the offer, similar to how Ive done it in the past. Its a trick, How to present a low offer that youre comfortable with, without pissing off the seller and losing communication.

Jeeze Chris, you buy and sell any more F100's and Ford is going to be after you for their cut of your dealership!

Great looking truck! I dig your plans. Like all your threads, I'll be following along.

I’ve been fighting a carb problem- it has a 1904 Holley 1 barrel on it, and it will over fill the float bowl and puke gas everywhere and flood the engine. After tinkering with it, I think I found a missed gasket at the inlet where the needle and seat are. At least after screwing with it, it seems fine now. Time will tell.

I pulled the valve cover to see how fresh the engine is, as it looks clean on the outside and runs great with no smoke or blow by. Looks like it’s pretyy fresh under the valve cover. Also cleaned the firewall and inner fenders as they were pretty dirty. That factory paint is still in great shape

Finally Friday night drove it to a friends house about 20 miles away. That overdrive is so nice to have!

Winter is here. I plan on tearing the ol girl down and cleaning/lowering/gingerbreading. I installed a 59-60 Custom Cab steering wheel (that still needs painted) and my friend Bruce found me an old chrome gauge cluster, ash tray and glove box door. I have a dropped axle and springs, and plan tomove the axle forward. I also have a 57/60 pitman arm which is an upgrade so you can use a ball joint type tie rod end on the drag link...but what do guys do on the other side? The steering arm has a ball made onto it. Maybe they make an adjustable drag link but only one side is adjustable?

I also stated collecting Y block stuff. Guys love em or hate em, but I’ve always wanted to have a 292/overdrive pickup for whatever reason.

You'll love that Y block. They sound great with headers. My avatar originally had a 292/3 on the tree. It made a world of difference in sound when I swapped out the original manifolds w/front crossover pipe to headers and glass packs. I think the Y-block even sounded better that the 429 I later put in. Looking forward to your progress. Subscribed.

Btw, thanks for bringing up to non centered front wheel subject. I always wondered about that.

Another great find Chris, 56 F-100's have always been on my bucket list.
I love the white, mild custom you posted earlier in the thread...
