    why so long ?
does it run as good as it looks ?

  12. Ya it was KILLIN ME to have to walk by it day in and day out especially when I had no idea how long it was gonna take to get it goin...I never gave up,just kept building it in my head, collecting parts as I went...Hell it took me 3 years just to collect the engine parts etc... A little at a time and it aint finished yet! Closer tho!!!!

  13. I have not driven it at the track yet...it dynoed at 544hp.I expect to run mid 10's maybe 10.30s....Don't wanna open my mouth to far...it is a pumpgas motor with only 11.3-1 comp.and not much over .500 lift very mild by todays standards I say....

Wow, the car looks beautiful...and vicious! Perfect stance...not too awfully high. Love the black paint...wheels...everything. A Studebaker coupe is a good choice for a g***er, and you made this one look great. And you tell us that you faced a bunch of "adversity" before you could get goin' on it, but now you've brought 'er this far. Wow...that's inspiring to me. Now I don't feel so bad that even though I've had a few cool old (basically stock) cars in the past, I'm still pursuing my dream to build a real hot rod or two. Life (and limited $...and certain cir***stances) can slow things down, and time continues to fly by. I respect very much, that you followed your p***ion in spite of everything. And I think the car is sweet. Have fun!

BTW...Did you build the car from a stocker...from the ground up? Did you paint it? Did you build the engine? Did you enjoy the build? Sounds like you did a lot of work yourself.

"...lost everything but my old Harley, my coupe, my tools and my Lazyboy recliner..." LOL. That's cl***ic.

  25. Thanks Rickeybop! I bought the car almost 30 years ago.I knew about the car as a kid as it was built in my home town as a D/G car and I wanted it even then...I found it in a barn complete minus motor, the old boy that built this ex g***er in the sixties still had the 302 he had bought new in 67,under his bench! I bought it and reworked the car so it was safe and changed nothing I did not have to.I drove it that way for a few years ran 12.50s but always spun hard. In the 80s I backhalved it lowered it put in a 360/glide combo and went bracket racin.Later a 377/glide,ran 10.90s with a mild combo and had a ball.I built all my motors but this one as I have waaaay to much money in parts so I just collected all the parts and had it built and dynoed in Moline at Stealys Performance. It is on you tube on the dyno under Stealy Performance SBC e-85 and gas.I built or should say rebuilt the entire car myself save the cage as I had no tube bender.I built the 4 link from scratch,as the entire car is hand built by me. soooo much done it would take foreverto type as I am a hunt and pecker...haha.I moved the motor back 6 inches the firewall 8 inches boxed th frame, removed stock X and many more mods....Check out my profile as there are some old shots from when I raced it as a true D/G car although I was bracket racing it was a legal D/G car,302 4-speed 8000 rpm!!!!Yikes Thanks for all the nice comments and stick with it and"Endeavor to persevere!!!!"
