Looks excellent! Have you test fitted it yet to see how it fits?

    Thank you, thank you...

One thing... I must remind you that I just made the pattern for a professional (retired) "aluminum man", who lives close to me. He has done almost everything that can be made of aluminium... I asked if he could cast some gasser wheels or AMC blower intake... No problem! Only if I can fabricate a suitable pattern for him... I have known him over 25 years, but never before asked him to do something for me and my projects! What a fool I´ve been! Have to go to my garage and hit my head with sledgehammer!! Twice!!

I d like to be able to have the same quality with my backyard foundry :)
Or maybe I should just make the patterns and let the job for the pro.

That is a beautiful piece, and your caster is a master. How are you going to finish the flat surface and the crank cutouts? Large sanding belt or a mill? CNC?

Flat surfaces and cutouts are going to be machined by a local shop as the oil plug. And yes, I´m going to polish this to match my blower and scoop and such. I´m going to polish new timing cover, too.

Testing... Prototype needed some grinding and sanding... inside.
Tomorrow I´ll take it to the machining shop.
It gives 2 liter more oil volyme, compared with original Jeep oil pan... It means 1/2 gallons...

    Yes, bondo and sanding...

Wood sticks (10mm x 7mm) give that empty space (10mm) and there are 3mm plywood spacers between sticks. This gives rough fins when sanded even. Round shape between fins is just extra bondo and sanded smooth...

 Awesome work. I think you'll have a few others lining up for one once this is done.

Good idea the spacers and filling between !!!
I ve made some with wood, but they are bigger.

One question .... What did you do to avoid the Bondo sticking to the wood ? Just removing it before it dries, or using silicon or anything else on it as a demolding agent ?

Just wrapped those into brown packaging tape of good quality (3M or such), seen in one of the previous pictures. It is very useful stuff when working with bondo or fiberglass...

That is an awesome oilpan and I can't imagine how long that pattern took to make. Whoever cast that piece really knew what he was doing.
