"please post this thread on the next tech-week!"

Gotta fin(n)ish this first. I have now a factory v8 crossmember, so I can see why fins hit my American HT crossmember...

And cause I´m having too much free time, I can easily forget that tech-week thing...<>(I work with two AMC Eagles, American HT, I´m fabricating parts for American Pro Street [front and rear suspension, blower intake, etc] and I´m about to start Hornet Convertible project!)

    Amazing work.

I remember the Nailhead valve covers, too. Awesome that you can now buy them commercially.

Yes, all misfortune with my oil pan was because of poor design.

Poor design was made 10 years ago when I fabricated engine brackets for my American Hardtop... They are too low!

So this new pan fits nicely when I bolted my motor to a Javelin crossmember. [IMG]

Hello again... It is almost six months and now its time to continue this project...

My first proto didn´t fit my American so I cut 7/8" (22 mm) slice out of my pattern. Now it would be much better...Let´s see..

Google translation has a lot of difficulty with Finnish :p
I love the Eagle. Nice seats also.
It s a car I d like to have for winter here.

I ve often found really useful information about Ramblers on this website. Most of the do***entation is in english.
It s a "must have" link any Rambler/ AMC fan should have in his favorites.

"Google translation has a lot of difficulty with Finnish"

Yes that´s true... I tested it and didn´t understand a word of it. I believe that most of the difficulties are because my language is something between local dialect and written finnish... a lot of technical words and such... And finnish is very difficult language!

    But more pics are coming...

So you mean there s an "official" finish, which quite nobody understand, and also a sub native specific to a local place "other finish" ?
Now I understand why Google can t translate... :p

Please take this as a joke, I just couldn t resist being stupid and am french :p So I m far from a purist about englander sprechen :p

We do understand each other, no matter where we live in Finland. Local dialects can be quite different from "official" language... And finnish is a really difficult language...

This is so off topic as it can be...

I visited the "cast master" yesterday and left my pattern to him.

If all happens as he promised, I´ll have something to do on Xmas time...

Did you have alot of casting shrinkage once aluminum cooled?

  23. I said it before and I will say it again "Awesome".

So, how many cans of beer did you need to drink to come up with that much aluminum?

    Done something during holiday season...

    Bolt holes...

Testing... There are many "OK´s" and some things that needs adjustments... A couple of bolt holes and main bearing bolts hit the pan... But most of it is OK!

"Did you have alot of casting shrinkage once aluminum cooled?"

I measured about 3% for that. And those main bearings fit well, but I did not realise that bolt heads are just little bit wider...

  25. Few people ever realize the agony of coming out with a new product - especially one as complex as this. They definitely "evolve" more than get "born".
    Nice job!

    HAHAHA!

Sorry to revive the old thread,
    *****in oil pan! Nice work!!
What I really wanted to say was how awesome it was that you were using big billy bad *** blower for a shelf to show off your work! Not too many people have those laying around, waiting to turn into a bench topper!!

    I commend you sir! :)

Don't know if its really agony so much as kind of fun and satisfying, but your'e right. People always talk about a product but few get to do it, let alone finish. Very impressive.
