Congratulations Bill. I'll be retiring in March after 34 years as a fireman. On numerous occasions you LEO's watch our backs while we get our job done and I thank you for that. I'm looking forward to spending more time with my hot rod. Gordy

Good Job! I've got 19 years on, and have another 'ooops' baby on the way. Guess I'm now on the 35 year plan. If you get another job, get it in some other field. Don't be one of those guys working security somewhere.

Congrats--I retired after 39 years , that lasted a month then worked for another 4 1/2 for another outfit--now I've been retired for about a year. At times I miss working still but the free time allows me to do things that I never quite had time for-good luck.

You know, the local Wal-Mart has retired cops in uniform there all the time, earning extra bucks looking after the place. I guess they keep their commission and everything - they're just in a semi-active "auxiliary" division of the KCPD.

Might earn you some extra cash, and a couple of nights a week you'd get to shoot the **** with other guys on the force that happen to drive by, PLUS you get to earn some hot rod money, and get some insurance and discounts on all KINDS of stuff!

Congrats. With almost seven years in law enforcement, I'm amazed and in awe of you old timers that made it that long. Love my job, but I don't know that I'll make it that long! Enjoy a well deserved retirement, and if you happen around central Arkansas, stop by- I'll furnish the donuts!:D

Way to go man, now you can get to the living part, I've got four more years till I retire and looking forward to every minute of it, I'm hoping to build a few (many) more rods before I kick it, "the bucket that is".
Enjoy your time, hang with friends and do what you want to do.

Congratulations !! You're going to love it.

I retired 7 years ago at 55-years old, due to a fortuitous buy-out. It took me about 6 seconds to get used to it and I don't miss the old job I had, although I enjoyed every one of the 34 years I spent there. I now spend about 6 hours a day on average in my shop and don't pull anymore "shifts" working 'til midnight on my 'stuff'. Lots of fun if you keep your health. Take care and enjoy yourself.

You young guys - just a suggestion, but don't wish your life away, counting down to retirement. I don't miss my working life, but I wouldn't trade the friends I made and the experiences I had for anything.

Bill, I am so happy for you, but sad that now you will be up at the ranch instead of a few minutes away. What a great accomplishment - now get off you *** and finish the RPU for Roundup!

    From one Bill to another...

    Congratulations!

I did 26 years in law enforcement, most of it on 24/7 call, involving about 1500 death scene investigations.

Welcome to the wonderful world of living from one good thing to another, rather than living from one bad thing to the next.

That change is what makes all the retired cops look 10 years younger in a fairly short time.
