With some time off, I finally got to follow up on a couple of old car leads. First I went to this old mans house to look for 55-56 <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<ST1Plymouth</ST1 parts. He did not have anything <ST1Plymouth</ST1 that I needed but he did have a mid-late 30s Chevy truck cab. I had been looking for a Ford cab to try and build a Rudy truck with my students, but, he only wanted $100 and its not in that bad of shape. Dont hate on me until you see the finished product. Then, as me and my buddy were leaving the old man pointed to one of his sheds and said there was another old Chevy on the other side in the trees. It was a 31 Chevy 1.5 ton. My buddy bought the cab, hood, and fenders for $100. He wanted another $100 for the frame. The rest of it was gone. I think I have talked him into going back and buying the frame. <O</O I then went to look at a 1952 Dodge that is in a field. I hoped it had an overdrive trans in it, but is had a gyro-matic. The Dodge is a four door and not what I want in a future project. The guy tells me he has another old car down behind his house. It was his Uncles and has been there since 1958. It turns out to be a 1941 Chevy 2 door <ST1Sedan</ST1. As we look at it he tells me that it is in his way and if I can haul it off that day I can have it. A couple of hours later it was loaded and on its way home. <O</O I never did find any <ST1Plymouth</ST1 parts.
I had a pretty good spring break also. Highlights were a stop @ the South Austin Speed Shop to leave a bucket with Fat Lucky that would be Sean if you're an insider. Ate some cupcakes did some bech racing and basically had a good visit with some of Austin's finest. (no offense intended to the rest of my Austin family). Low light of the vacation was that I drove the Pusher fpor the last time. I left it in the country in the able hands of a very good friend. So it hasn't made its last p*** just my last stint behind the wheel. Up side was it was a 2 hour drive. (actually only 60 miles but I made a few side trips). flathead6 Looks like you found some neat chit on your time off. I can't see a damned thing wrong with eoither of the chebbies.
