Hey metalshapes, My notes place Tjaarda at Osi in 1966, having just left Pinin- farina. The Alfa Romeo Scarabeo, really just a rebody of a Giullia 1600 broke cover during that period. I don't beleve that Guigaro was involved with the styling, as once he left Bertone he was quickly workin' for Ghia. As a major player in Italian design, I'm not bettin' he did much "moonlighting" for other desigh houses. Swankey Devils C.C.
If I remember right, the Scarabeo had the Alfa ( all aluminum hemi head twincam )sideways behind the seats. I think they ran a chain between the engine & gearbox, to adapt the parts from the regular front engine/RWD layout. I found one site that says Francis Lombardi did his own design on the GP. ( but some of is other cars look really homely in comparison...)
Isn't this car fantastic? From today's Hemmings feed. Gary https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2017/...he-1953-abarth-1100-sport-by-ghia/?refer=news
