Pushed my 39 Ford outside over the weekend to dust it off and snap a few shots. It hasn't seen sunlight in awhile, and hasn't been under its own power since Feb 2022. My friend Joe pulled the '48 59A Flathead in March '22 and sent it over to a 76 year old Flathead guy's machine shop. After waiting in line and the builder being sick and health issues, it's finally almost ready to be married up with C-Dan once again. it's looking like late April or early May. in the meantime, my friend Anthony Nardo will be coming down this Saturday from PA to lay some pinstripes on it. He sent me computer renderings and I think it turned out nice. Since the motor was out I was able to find a Bob Drake grille (the initial one was made in Argentina and a couple bars were bent) and had the lower grille pan repaired and painted to match. I know its a 40 Standard grille instead of a 39, but that's what was on it before so... Anyway....I'm hoping to get her back on the road sooner than later!
Can you believe that car came from the factory looking that cool. The design/profile is sooo smooth. Now you're adding more cool to it with the pinstriping? Nice car.
Love It, first old car I really remember was a little newer 40's sedan (the oval back window had a lasting effect on me)!!
I know it's been a long time, Scott. Hope all goes smoothly now coming down the home-stretch. The pin-striping is going to look great. I love a "fine line". See you soon........Don.......ps...Nothing wrong with a '40 Standard grill.....
Me too! I got an update yesterday. They are honing the cylinder walls, and if all is good it will just need new rings only and not pistons. Then they will start ***embling it.
...They were done almost 40 years ago by a couple of guys (Chuck Kisemore and Jim Rison) down in Charles County. Jim p***ed a number of years ago and Chuck, as far as I know is still living (in North carolina).
Ok thanks, There was a guy named Sean Dowdle in Centreville, MD that did my 41 Chevy back in early 2015, but his website is not available anymore and he doesn’t answer his phone. Wonder if he’s still in business? I may stop by his house to see if he even lives there anymore.
Got the stripes done on Sunday. They turned out nice as expected! Thanks to Anthony Nardo! I also got another update on my Flathead. It's in the process of being put back together. Won't be long now.
