Been creeping around this old coupe since I took a back road in Southern NH about a year ago. It IS a 38, yes?
Yep, 1938 Ford Deluxe Coupe. It has the heart shaped grille. The Standard Coupe had the carry-over grille from 1937.
The late **** Spadaro would have been able to tell you 947 differences between the 38 Deluxe and the 39 Standard, but I don't know any. Sure miss that dude... -Abone.
Might be different in Australia (I know the Aussie versions varied from the US ones sometimes), but in the US, this was the '37 Ford grille. And this was the '38 Standard. The grilles are pretty different, as is the hood.
No, the Australian ones are the same as the U.S. ones. In addition to the grille and hood, the front fenders are also unique to the 38 Standard.
I’ve always thought the ‘38 Standard had a better looking grille rather than the DeLuxe. I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t work in the Ford promotions department...
Ok, sorry, point taken. What I meant was that the grille's general style and shape was a carry over from '37 to '38 Standards. The '38 Deluxe was a whole new look with the heart shape.
I didn't dare get any closer than the driveway, there is a coupe shell next to the house too and another old p/u deep in the driveway.. . . . . One day when I have some money in my pocket
Such a shame to see all of them sitting outside just deteriorating. Hope someone makes them live again.
Yes, it is. 38 Deluxe. On a 39 Standard, the louvers on the hood sides only head forward from the cowl a short bit.
The antenna on my '38 Deluxe is just above the windshield in the center/front of the roof. Was this a different option?
