It's real. I have seen a couple of random pictures of it on Instagram a few weeks ago from different angles from the same car show. Either a number of guys decided to photoshop the same idea of the same car at the same show or it actually exists. Doesn't mean it actually runs though.
Ssssshhh......!!! We don't need MeanGene427 finding out about this. We will never hear the end of it...
I used to know an automotive machinist who has since p***ed on. He told me the worst SBC he ever worked on, as far as squareness and parallelism to the crank centerline and the back of the block, was a Corvette block. I guess the urban legend that Corvette engines got the the best of the parts is just that, a legend. Gary
I pulled a rectangle port 427 and muncie out of a 57 Vette and ran the numbers, it came from a 66 Biscayne. Pulled a Vette engine out of a 56 Austin Healy 100-4 le mans, it was, a 60 240 horse block. I ran the numbers on the small block in my 56 GMC, it was a 58 240 horse also. Ran the numbers on the engine in a 64 Vette, it was out of a 74 Chevy Truck. It's fun to find a vette engine, for bragging rights, but who will believe you anymore
I bought my first ‘Corvette’ motor in 68. 327, 340 horse …It had the 30-30 cam and valve covers, double hump heads, and 4 bolt mains. I didn’t tear it down for a rebuild until ‘92, it was a 2 bolt block with cam and good heads, not a 340; but I never thought it was the high compression version, but thought it might be the 300 hp. It was still a good junkyard motor
I have a 75 Vette with a real live Honest To God 65 300hp Vette mill in it. That’s even according to the numbers. What does that make me? The engine is worth more than the car.
The Camaro is real, it was a 1 year old SS 396, recovered theft, when Clarence Everett bought it for $1200.00. My friend Jack Greiner took the picture.
And that is a shame, kinda rare car, but back then, eh? I remember a rich kid in high school who's daddy bought him a 68 ss396 Camaro in 11th grade, and then a 428CJ Mach1 when he was a senior- took him a week to rip a rear quarter off the Mach1
Nah, not different at all. I'm not blindly aligned to any one brand, so it's totally ok with me for people to do whatever they want with their cars. There is some wicked cool "mixed and matched" stuff out there. I will admit that I don't see the advantage of swapping in a flathead where a more powerful engine once lived, but that's just me. At least it's an interesting concept, and certainly a talking point.........
actually other than the p***enger side radiator hose that is a very good photoshop. I would say it goes behind the AC and joins the other metal hose on the other side. my vote would be yes. blow the picture up. photoshop is easy to find if you do it a lot and know what to look for.
Here is your chance to get that Vette mill...ha! https://www.facebook.com/marketplac...place_top_picks&referral_story_type=top_picks
