It's about time

  1. I always wanted to have a car theme wall clock on my workshop wall but never was able to find one I liked. While going through some old parts that I had stored I came across a 15 inch spun aluminum wheel cover (only one) that was coated with various shades of paint but otherwise in good condition. What to do with one wheel cover……then it dawned on me. This could make a great clock. I built a fixture to spin it in a drill and hit it with sand paper to restore the spun affect, cut out the center and installed a lens and rim from a 40,s something Silvertone radio tuning dial that was also kicking around, used photo shop to edit some pictures of some Chevy's that I have owned and printed them clear shipping labels. I placed them on the face of the wheel cover and covered the whole thing with 6 coats of clear. I ordered a clock dial and movement on line for 9 bucks and finished it off with Chevy orange trim and pin stripe and was good to go. I’d be willing to bet there are some other unique car themed pieces of wall art hanging in workshops out there……..let’s see them

That turned out well. I wish I had a shop worthy of building a clock for.

  3. Am I the only one who clutters up my shop walls?
