Hell Eddie, don't listen to the neigh sayers. If you like, that's all that counts. I think it's one bitchin' hot rod and can't wait to geta ride in it, hint, hint.;)

I wonder what would be said if there was a post of the build of the Purple People Eater today?

You know how it is Bruce, those who can't do talk shit. Luckily I enjoy building stuff more than I enjoy trying to impress people.

I still don't understand what motivates people to just rip on people's hard work. I can understand if people are asking for opinions than by all means be honest. I have never asked for an opinion because I really don't care. I am more offended by people feeling they have a right to give me their opinion than I am by there opinion.

Its just like I told you last summer. I knew this car was going to put me in between the crowds but I built it anyway.

Oh yah and rides are a buck each... gotta pay for the gas and the tickets!!

It's forums like these, where people can hide behide their keyboard, that have given them the power to either speak up and ask for help or talk shit about each other with little or no reprocussions.

Hell I'll give ya 2 bucks, if I drive.

It's also forums like this that separate the gimmicky and the cliched from the timeless, regardless of the quality of workmanship.

It's your car, you dig it, but I think it's hokey, that's not talking shit, that's having a point of view.

Looks like some serious fun to me.

I dont know where the term rat rod fits with your car at all.

    For one its not leaking
    For two it looks solid
For three you built it with alot of safety involved
For Four ITS a FREAKING HOT ROD WITH THREE PEDALS SO LIGHTEN UP

  10. Really a bad ass!! Very creative ideas, nothing like it, thats what I think is cool. No cookie cutter used here!! The critics picking it apart should park their ride next to it and compare workmanship, originality, etc. You handled the negative stuff very nicely. Congrats!! fun hotrod!!!--Sololobo

Okay Nads so lets take a look at what you do that gives you the right to be a critic. I am not the kind of person to rip on peoples rides, but I think if you are going to rip on mine than you should post pics of yours so we can all see your brilliance, skill and quality that makes you superior. A quick search got me this shot of your car.

I suppose that it is just ordinary and plain enough that most people would not give it a second look especially not give it enough time to notice the HOKEY air cleaner with the "quality" welds.

Its okay though you have to start somewhere, you'll learn and get better it just takes practice.

Hey you guys tought me something it is fun and very easy to point out other peopls flaws I think I'll do it with everyone who rips on my cars. That is if they even have the guts to post anything they have built.

Better yet post your own pics with your negative comments and save me the trouble. I would love to be humbled by all the tallent. The truth is very very few who have truly built something would rip on someone because they know what it takes to build a quality car and that you have put so much time and effort and soul into.

This isn't about the quality of your work, I never ripped on your work, it's the design aspect of the car itself. This post wasn't about my car, it was yours.
The body of my car is a $500 race car refugee, it's rough, it is as it was built, horribly, in the 50s.
The aircleaner on my car doesn't have the best welds on it, nor the worst, but it isn't store bought, the bottom's made out of one piece of metal made over a plywood hammerform, you can't see it.
I don't have a garage, I have a small spot in a warehouse, sometimes, mostly I do stuff in my carport, that's all I have.
I don't have one tenth of the talent you have Eddie, you are a professional with access to top notch tools, but at the same time I think your ideas are fraught with cliches, that iron cross trunk/rad opening is just the beginning.

You dig it, and so do the vast majority of people who are commenting on your post, you should be a happy man.

But as for bondo slinger, rubbish welder, keyboard commando me, I'm just not that into your car, just accept that you can't make everyone happy.

    Eddie,

Don't let the negative comments drag you to a lower level.

Remember, Opinions are like **S HOLES, everyones got one!

The only person's opinion that should matter is the one sitting behind the wheel.

    Harold

Oh, by the way, don't change a thing with your car. It's awesome!

im pretty sure if we took that car back to the 50s n 60s. the grandfathers would be thrilled with it and Roth would make a print of it. its all about creativity and personal gratifacation. one mans ceiling is another mans floor.

Yes it's mine, NO, I didn't build it and never claimed to. It was built by Clark and JR at the SO WHAT Speed shop. I feel lucky to be the current caretaker of the car.

My skill sets don't allow me to belittle any one elses vehicle. Other than the T, I don't have anything that runs or is plated for the road. If I think something is cool ( and Eddie's A is so coool ), I will take the time to say so. IF I think something is a joke ( and I have found them here ) I follow my Dad's rule...keep your mouth shut if you can't say something nice.

Imagine what a shit board this would be without the true metalsmiths like Eddie. There are a lot of craftsmen here on the HAMB and I hope to learn from them.

Imagine what a shit board it would be if you weren't allowed to speak your mind, regardless of the talent of the metalsmiths here. If Eddie can't handle some criticism as to the aesthetics of his hot rod, not the quality, he might wanna think about keeping the car a secret.
As it is he has completely contradicted himself by saying that he doesn't worry about being criticized and then worrying sick about it.

There are understated hot rods, like yours, built by Clark, whom I love very much, and then there are "look at me, look at me" hot rods like Eddie's, who's being a total nanny nanny boo boo about it.

Oh there's a third category, shitbox, like my 34.

Hey man been reading all this crap about your car and opinions and what not, just wanted to say -REAL COOL CAR! I like it, great job! It takes all tastes to keep this sport alive and the more hot rods out there the better. Keep up the good work.

  27. I'll second that too! That dash is an incredible piece,WOW!Beautiful craftsmanship never goes out of style.:D Lots of thoughtful planning in this build.

Did you put a blow proof bell housing in it?:D

  29. Nads' 34 is rough, but you should see his super-nice Shovelhead. He's actually a pretty swell guy, but not afraid to speak up.

I also admire your skills, I just prefer more traditional style. Nevermind the junk I'm learning on.

P.S. The leatherwork is really nice. you need to do a tech post on that.

  30. Eddie,
I think your car is bitchin! If you are happy with it it is perfect. Hell, there are things on my car that I don't like but shit...I put them there. Thats why my handle is neverdun. Good luck with it and don't collect too many stamps from the chippys.
