I would think that a good sandblasting could do no damage to those panels. It might even strighten some.

A little bit of work on this car every day will make this project come together quicker than you think. Whenever I have a big project, I try to do a little bit every day even if it is going out to the garage and wiping down the glass or locating that special bolt needed for the job in my collection of nuts and bolts. Doing a little bit every day helps to keep the project on the "front burner" and not pushed into a corner of the garage- eventually becoming an eyesore and giving you a bad feeling every time you go out to the garage as you think to yourself, "I need to get back to this project someday". Keep up the great work...

I haven't done much lately so I decided to drag the frame in today and get the body mounted.

After dragging it 100' and getting it under the body and up on stands by myself I decided I'd had enough for the day.
I also scored a new rear tail pan for what I considered cheap. It should get here this week. When it does I'll get it tacked on an see about making the fenders fit.

I got lucky on Ebay again and picked up a rear pan.
The right fender had a crease that looked like someone tried to knock it out with a ball peen hammer.
    A couple hours later...
It still needs a little more work but it's close.

I haven't been in the garage much. Even though it's heated it's like working in a cave. All the windows are covered w/styrofoam panels so there's no natural light. This time of year I need to get as much sunlight as I can so I don't crack.

Spring can't get here quick enough....

If you need a hood there is a fiberglass hood on the Dayton Craigslist.

I'm simply amazed at your abilities and perseverance on this car. Please keep the pics coming, it's very inspiring to see what can be done with two hands rather than one checkbook!

So I spent the last 2 days iced in and decided to get a little more done on the 40.
Tail pan welded in and filler pieces made.
I also started welding the 1/4 seam back together after removing what was left of the drip rail.
I don't think I'm going to replace the drip rails and I'm still on the fence as far as chopping and sectioning. Right now I just want to get it back to a stock starting point w/o rust and dents, then I'll decide on whether or not to start hacking on it.

Exellent work so far. Good CARma for you for bringing this one back from the grave.

If you are looking for driprails, check out Gene's Hot Rod parts. (he is a member here) A complete set of driprails for a coupe are about 200 bucks or so. WELL worth the money.

    Keep the good work, -Abone.

Consider keeping those drip rails until you have made a firm decision, sometimes 40's look better with them. Awesome build, nice job saving the ole girl.
