It's cool when you're recognized for all of your hard work!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by BloodyKnuckles, Jul 2, 2006.

  1. Well I was floored on Saturday. I was at the Heavy Rebel Weekender in Winston Salem, NC enjoying the bands and entertainment when they anounced that it was award time. I didn't think much of it until they anounced my name and car for (get this) "best engine". I was blown away.
I know I have worked hard on my car but didn't see that coming especially at an event with that many cars.
I'm (by no means) tooting my own horn but it feels pretty damn nice when all your hard work is noticed.
I've recieved only a few awards in my life but this one is pretty cool.

A HAMBer with an award is worth two birds or hands or fingers in a bush, something like that, so congradulations.

  8. I must admit. I felt a bit uncomfortable writing my first post on this but I had to. I appreciate the kind words.
Luckystiff, You're not far from me at all. We'll have to meet up at another car show or something. I can come up to Hickory anytime for a cruise-in or a garage nite just to shoot-the-shit. Let me know.

  11. Bloody Knuckles, congrats from another mopar flat sixer. How does your inlet manifold drive? I dont see any form of manifold heating, hence my curiosity. You've renewed my faith in my decision to run my 230 instead of a V8. Thank you.

Good shit man. Would've like to have been there, but I had family in town from florida....I should have something to take up there next year, The wagon just seemed like a step down for the show after my 53 last year.

Your engine rocks, you deserved that award!

Congrats, it is always a pleasure when you you put in all of that effort for yourself, doing exactly what you want, making it look how you want it to look and then somebody else notices it.

  15. From the original set-up to what I have now I have noticed a significant difference. Has a noticeable increase in power. It idles fine. Good throttle response. It can be a bit tempermental when I start it cold, it has no choke. I have driven it in temps below freezing and above 100*F without problems.
I have been thrilled with the whole set-up.
Keep the faith, run the flatty.

Cool flathead BloodyKnuckles. What did you use around the spark plugs ?

  30. You're one of the first people to ask that. I run hoodless so when it rains the spark plug indentions get full of water and debris. The botom of the spark plugs get rusty and the water leaves rings. So I cut some copper sheet to fit 2 of the holes at once, bent it and stamped it for strength and looks. It looks a bit different but I like it.
    Thanks for noticing.
