  3. I've found that r406a works great in the old r12 systems (commercial refrigeration) where I work (food processing). WAY cheaper than r12 and doesn't require the ridiculous head pressures that 134a does (which is hard on a lot of old compressors).

Problem is that it may not be legal to put in your car.

So, I'm not gonna' openly condone breaking the law, but...

Here is an Old Air unit mounted in the original ford heater box. It's not mine but it shows how you can hide their unit if you want to. I used the Old Air box and it looks real close to the OE init.

  7. not to hijack but i have an older aftermarket a/c set-up pulled from a '51 ford wagon with a flathead. was working a few years ago (o ring went and let out the r-12). complete set-up with a flathead/alt bracket for the comp. just needs 1 hose repaired, wire, new o rings, i would also replace the drier and freon (either 134a or r12 but was an r12 system before). you get the under dash unit, compressor, hoses, dryer, condenser, electric fan and compressor bracket for $60. back on the subject....if your going to get new i would go with vintage air, i have put in a few of these and have had no complaints.
