A couple of months ago the motor in my Caddy gave way. My wife and I have four boys and she keeps pretty good tabs on where the money goes. I've been stashing some scratch away so I don't take a big chunk out of savings which would cause some adverse effects from the wife. Well, short story long, the wife calls me up last night while I was at work and tells me of the conversation she had with our four year old son Riley. It went like this: Riley: Mom, how come when I make a wish it doesn't come true? Mom: What are you wishing for bud? Riley: I keep wishing for Dad's car to get fixed, but it still isn't. Now, the wife is good with me spending the cash because it what the kid wants. I need to start coaching these kids of mine a little better so I can get more stuff. Just had to share with you guys 'cause I'm at home with the two youngest while everyone else is gone. Good stuff
After my first son was born my wife told me "You need to get a family car." So I bought an O/T Dodge Magnum SRT8, a 425 HP station wagon is a family car, right? Later, I got my 58 ranch wagon, and every day my son (now 2.5) asks if he can take a ride in Dad's wagon. His other stories include "worked on dad's wagon" and "ride in Grandpa's hot rod at car show". Kudos to you for bringing your kids up right!
I've been coaching my son to tell his mom to let me build a hot rod. Unfortunately he's not very subtle...and he does it in front of me. A while back I was watching the tube and he comes out of the garage and says, "hey mommy, I gotta tell you something. Come down here so I can whisper it in your ear. (she complies and he contiues to whisper) <SHE complies>Don't tell anybody but me and daddy are gonna build a hot rod."

I tried talking my wife into a wagon for her but she keep's saying something about an SUV. I'm having a hard time hearing what she's saying though.
Sorry to hear you're not driving that Caddy Nowaxn...but just keep telling yourself (and your son) that the car will be better when it gets a new engine...it'll be much more enjoyable... You rebuilding the original or going to a late model...??? R-
Late model. Now I just have to go pick it up, drop it in and fab a **** ton of stuff to make it work. Oh, the joy.
I was building a lakes styled 38 ford truck, found a 1958 Edsel that I bought with plans to turn around and sell (bought for dirt cheep with 54,000 miles) but the kids and wife fell in love with the Edsel so I sold the truck and put my efforts in the Edsel. My two boys (3 and 4) love old cars, dry lake racing and drag racing too. I am planning on building a LSR car with them as they get older. I grew up doing car stuff with my mom and dad. Always loved old cars but now that I am a dad with kids that love old cars it is even better.
