hello guys, i was poking around under the carpet on my ride and found the trans dipstick. Looks like the oil is a bit low, what fluid would you recommend. looks like it has red stuff in it now.

    thanks.

type F hooks up a little better.

I think i will use dex, that is what it appears to have in it. does not look burnt either. I know that the trans was rebuilt in 02?

type F is typically used in ford transmissions. they require a little bit different mixture hence the good "hook-up". anything else takes dexron

    Hahahahaha..........:D

Dexron is what you should use. Smell it, taste it, roll in it. It'll become your new best friend.

it originally called for Type A, did F supercede that? Dex III is what people say to use and it is supposed to supercede F. Do not use Dex V

The old manuals also says that in an emergency you can use motor oil!

  8. DEXRON III (and it's predecessors) replaces TYPE "A" and TYPE "A" SUFFIX "A".

    Nothing supercedes TYPE "F".

You can use F in a DEXRON application but not the other way around. TYPE "F" was also not available until 1968.

    Type F is for Fords

It has a very slight "grit" to it, the Ford transmissions use this to get their clutches to grip better

Old drag racers' trick is to use Type F in a GM trans to keep them from slipping..
