I don't have near the talent of any of the artists on here, but i am an amateur photographer. Just learning to post pics , and thought i'd post one here. LMK what you think. This is a buddy's stocker in his yard. Evan
Looks pretty good so far! Either you've got a camera with real good default settings or you have a good handle on getting a decent exposure. (Or digitally compensating for a bad one!) As for composition, try moving your subject (or focal point) up or down so that it's significntly off-center top-to-bottom. A good little guide is to imagine your image as being divided into thirds, both horizontally and vertically. Then place your main focal point at the intersecion of any two of the slices. (Extra points for having a secondary focal point at thte opposite intersection.) This will work for both vertical/portrait framed images as well as horzontal/landscape ones. Of course there are exceptions to this rule, but it's a great starting point.
I don't know nuthin' about art or photography, but I know what I like, and I like those. If I found 'em framed somewhere, I'd buy.
Slide, Thanks for the complement. I am shooting these all on 35mm film, so there's no digital compensation in the pics, as evidenced by the sun spot on the black and white pic. I do know the "rule of thirds", but i'm still getting better, i have another pic of the same car with the car in the lower third. Thanks for the tips! Evan
