    To all those that have served or are currently serving, ThANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!


    My father was also stationed on the Enterprise during these times. He was in the Navy from 1957-1977. Names James Sheldon. He was a parachutte rigger. Name sound fimiliar to either of you??

    U.S. Army 1949 to 1954 82nd Airborne and then the 187 Airborne Regimental Combat team in Korea, also known as Frozen Chosen.

    Died Feb28, 2005, after a short battle with cancer.

    RIP Grandpa, I miss you.

    Grandpa Monte Brown, died in 1986
    - Served in WW2 in the Army Air Corps.

    Grandpa Harold Swepston, died a few weeks ago
    - Served in the Army airborne in Korean War. wounded 5
    times. Purple heart, 2 bronze stars, riflemans badge.
    I miss 'em both, two great men.

    My old man, served in the Navy on USS Samuel Gompers in Late 60's. went all over the south pacific.

    I served in the US Air Force from 95-99, 60th Suppy Squadron.I refueled jets. anything and everything from foreign stuff to the Air Force one a couple of times. got an honorable and got out. went to iraq, quatar, barain, doha, spain, england. was part of Desert Fox deployment. Ah, anthrax shots....what fun. glad i did it, taught me to appreciate our country, our freedom, and other things.

    Thanks to all my brothers who served in any branch-

    As the dad of three active duty Air Force members I want to say thanks for all that every one of you have done and are doing for your country. You don't get patted on the back near often enough.

    You guys make me proud to call myself an American, and my dad served in the Army as a driver along the Ho Chi Manh trail near DaNang 69-71, yep I'm a Vietnam baby.

    Here are the words my fourth graders came up with about Veterans and current serving soldiers: Dedicated, hardworking, honor, soldier, sacrifice, rescue, freedom, liberty, determination, protect, and serve.

    My favorite "patriot"

    Return safely, commemorate those who served, and bless all,

    U.S. Air Force Reserves 1981-1989 95th Mobile Airport Squadron (C130's, 141's, and C5's) 65000 AFSES (?) Passenger and air cargo control.

    I traveled all over the world between these two branches and wouldn't trade it for anything...!

    USAF 65-69.... SE Asia 66,67,68..On a side note on another thread a lot of C 130 people on the HAMB..I learned a lot when in service and got to use the GI Bill to my advantage..

    My cousin is currently on the Enterprise doing the same thing(Reactor Operations). Man is he white when he comes home :) (no sun in bottom of ship)

    Grandpa - denied active service on medical grounds, "drafted" as civilian flight instructor (DoD Contractor) for USAAC and then USA & stayed on until 1980. Died in 1993 after a long bout with cancer

    Dad - USN Radio Tech & Flight Radio Operator '58-62

    Father-in-law - Fought with Patton's 3rd Army - came ashore Normandy on day 3 - Bronze Star, Purple Heart (among others) Died in 1990 after a short bout with cancer

    Me - 1991 - present - active duty USAF MC-130H Combat Talon II pilot
