That name does sound familiar. Was he ever in VF-114 or on the Kitty Hawk? Does he know my old buddy PR2 Mortimer Means?

    To cruzn:
I'm re-organizing my mountain of junk aka my office, and if I find my cruise books I'll see if your Dad's name is in anywhere. There were 6,000 men on the boat so I don't recall him although I probably drank a beer with him in some Phillipino saloon.

BTW, Forgot to say Welcome Home to All. Ya know, this kind of breaks me up after all these years.

Wow! I'm amazed at all the armed forces folks here. When you run into one you can spend hours reminiscing your time spent.

USN 1991-99 USS Barbey, USS Mobile, USS Princeton (all Satellite/Telecom), Okinawa/Misawa (P-3 ops), and SeaBees (IT/Network engineer)

Take the time to rember those before too and made the ultimate sacifice. Take care.

Man alive, this may just be the most awesome thread ever on the HAMB! I've been reading thru it, and can't get the big lump out of my throat. Would like to add my thanks to all who have served, and include all my old Shang shipmates, and especially my VF-13 buddies. And certainly my Pop, R.C. Ward, USN, '43-'45, WT-2, USS Bosque. Lost him in '03, may he RIP.

Dad said he was never in VF-114 but one of the squadrons he can remember was VA-215, which was called the Barn Owls. We lived in Lamore, CA at the time. He was never on the Kitty Hawk. He served not only on the Enterprise a number of times but the Roosevelt and the Midway. He was on the Enterprise when they had that huge explosion and mens lives were lost.

Dad drank alot of beer in those bars that's for sure. He tells all the overseas drinking storys but never talks about the war parts. He also played alot of cards, and won. He was famous for kickin butt on board ship in a card game called Red Dog. Money was tight as any military family knows but he always managed to make extra on board ship playing cards and brought us home nice treats from all over the world. I certainly got my traveling spirit from my father.

What is your real name and I'll look in Dad's cruz books as well.
