I por-15'd my frame and moved the spring perches on the 8.8 so I can swap it in as soon as I get some ford bolt pattern 15x7's.

  2. No work......just play.
Went on Saturday to the Rt 66 swap meet & car show in Joplin.
Didn't find much for a Plym at the swap....only a tail light frame.

However, the car did win first place in the Stock to 1948 class.

And, last weekend, I took the car to the 66 Drive-In theater at
Carthage where it was used, along with about 30 others, as a
prop for a segment of Great American Road Trip. They are doing a
Rt 66 theme. The segment will be shown on July 14, on NBC.

Started out just going to bleed the brakes on the '61 Olds F85 and turned into a carb rebuild. Got the front brake bled fine (rears need to be rebuilt, next on the list) and went to crank the car up. I did a trans service on the lousy Slim-Jim trans and adjusted the linkage. I was looking forward to see if my work made a difference on how the trans shifted. Connected the battery, hit the key and nothing. Hit the carb with ether and it kicks over but won't run. After much cleaning and thinking I finally checked the carb fuel filter. There wasn't one. Whoever had the car before me had yanked it. So I go and open up the bowl, it look like I was panning for gold. Cleaned all the jets and anything else I could when I notice the power valve O-ring was missing a CHUNK out of it. Well that would sure do it. So now I need to fix that and put in a new fuel filter. It's just as well, the weather was nice out and the local car wash at the end of my street was a ghetto street party on rented blinged wheels. Last thing I want is anyone to know what I have in the garage (no mufflers on the '61).

I should have just stayed in the garage.

  9. Started cleaning out the front garage so I can put all the extra furniture thats stashed in MY back garage into the front one.

Going to pick up a new resident for the back garage in 2 weeks!

Took a vacation day Friday so I had a 3 day weekend.
    Friday -
Swapped heads on the rebuilt 350 engine we put into my '85 el Camino because I had newer heads on it before and the serpentine system would not bolt up to the double-hump heads I put on it. We replaced the engine because it was making a racket after just 1350 miles.
Had an electricina over to rewire the house so my compressor doesn't blow the breakers on my rec room where the wife uses her computer.
Saturday - Reveled in the Rust revival show. Had a blast.
Sunday - Tore apart the enigine we replaced in the el Camino. It had all bad mains and 3 bad rod bearings. It seemed to be another bad Oil victim at first thought. Then I noticed that cylinder 1 had cap number 3 and rod number 5 in it. Crank is toast.
So... probably bad oil AND an asshat doing the work. Bought a freshly ground .010/.010 crank off of Craigslist. I love Craigslist!

The Rust revival made the weekend a great time in spite of the bad motor news.

Started on the family '54. Got the rear end out and started knocking a bit of the rust off. Took the roadster out last night to a friends for dinner and ripped a hole in the roadster's oil pan. Highs and lows.

I finally got the grill off my '56 Plymouth Savoy-cum-rustbucket. Put some "make do" weather stripping around all the doors to try to slow down the wet. Taped in a plastic cover for the missing rear window. Took the rest of the mouse-eaten cushion off the front seat. Tried not to freak out about how much work needs to be done on this mess (a serious episode of "What the Hell Was I Thinking??"); my wife talked me down off the "just part it out and sell it on eBay" cliff.

One thing at a time, gotta remember to focus on one thing at a time.

Worked 5 hrs Saturday. That was nice. Got home did breaks on the Bugatti,(looks like a Bugatti, sounds like a VW) then moved the 72 suburban onto the tarmac and jacked, pressure washed and did wheel removal ops. Followed by rum and coke.
Sunday daughter and self rode to cooler climes and went back in time to the old west. Had real good BBQ and scored left overs.
miniscule loss of blood, 350 bike miles, happy daughter. SUCCESS,I win.
