These aren't models, they are 64th scale die cast, but they were cut up and modified. I finished the 40 last week. I'm redoing the VW because I finally found a picture of the one used in the movie and the color was different than what I had painted mine.

If I had a better camera I'd be able to get close ups of the cars, but this picture is as good as I can get with my camera.

Thanks guys for the pics this week, some cool builds. I was telling the wife I should do some models this winter, and she said you have a garage full of 1:1 models that need to be worked on!!!!!!! Then she started to tell me what all need to be done.

Damn cool! I used to build a **** load of models in the 80's. After a few months of looking at them, I'd put them in the oven and get them all soft so I could make them look like they hit a tree or flipped a dozen times.Ha ha, We didn't have cable or atari so I had to do something...

When I was five (1967) my next-door neighbor built and gave me a Big T. He brought it over one Saturday afternoon and I can still see him at the front door coming in carrying that huge model. It didn't last long--I was way too young for such a fragile gift. He was a PG&E lineman and he built model cars in his spare time and did nice work. He'd set them (the 1/25 stuff) out on the top of the fence to dry and I would stand there looking up at them, just out of my reach.

I found this original, '63 issue, red, Big Deuce kit yesterday at some little rinky-dink estate sale inside an old Chucky Cheeze's!

...the sides of the box have a couple issue's, but, the top is nice...it still has the cellophane hobby shop "Display Window" inside, the instructions & decals, and is complete and unbuilt! A few parts were removed from the trees, but everything is there!

  17. Buck,
Your en***led to your opinion, but the car is ceramic, so the lines aren't as sharp, but it certainly isn't ugly....It was apparently good enough for Barris and Wally Parks, so I'll defer to that higher authority.....

Very Grabowski Big T you have there! (Yes, in this case it is acceptable to use "Grabowski" as an adjective.) Is this the new kit or the old one?

  19. That's a pretty neat find! I've got the one that my dad built in '63, along with the box, and it is so big and fragile it has always been a PITA to store and display without damaging it. At least the new one in the box is a little easier to deal with!

You guys build some nice models!

It's the latest issue. The only change I made was to take out much of the 'Z' in the rear of the frame to slightly shorten the wheelbase and raise the rear a little bit.
