Damn damn damn! Looks good Andy. Can't wait to see it in person. Sent from my jail cell using H.A.M.B. mobile app
So you weren't lying when you said after you get back from the salt you plan on living in the shop. Looking great man, maybe see it in person on the way next year?
Thanks fellas! haha, yea I put a cot in the corner for the occasional nap! It might make it out there next year, either the T or this pile...
Hey Andy, isn't the one under the workbench the one from my neck of the woods that you came and snuck out of town?
Doesn't look as "rough" as you made it sound, lol. I think you were just tryin not to make me feel bad for not catching it! Lookin good man. Had my truck out on the road yesterday, everything is real good. Waaaaaayyyyyy faster than it needs to be, lol.
Been working on fitting these milled-to-death weiand heads to my domed pistons... almost done, quick motor mockup!
that looks realy good andy, im glad your a ford in a ford kinda guy.. what do you have across the bottom of the pumps ?
I SHOULD HAVE KEPT THOSE HEADS DAMN IT. I knew I was going to regret that haha!!! Engine looks killer though!!!! Since I've failed to get anything running I'll give you a crisp new $20 if you advertise Sugar City on the decklid since it looks like the logo.
Ha! After getting some advice from a trusted flathead machinist friend, Charlie Schwendler, this is what I'm doing. First I mark each chamber in the head with white chalk, throw the head on and loosely thread in a few head bolts. Roll the engine over a few times, watch the head hop around, and then pull it off. Now I have witness marks where the pistons are contacting the head. I use my air powered angle grinder with a roloc disc to remove material in the contact areas. Its slow going but it only removes it where it needs to and it will keep the quench area tight and accurate. Much moreso than a flycutter we think.
I "flycut" the heads on my coupe on a drill press with a home made jig using sticky emory paper. Measuring depth with a depth mic. Kind of slow with having to keep measuring........Then I cc the whole thing relieving the sprark plug area to even it all up. Kind of Farmerized but worked for Burt Munro.....
Haha, I wish, lots of progress, but a few setbacks as well... Including, but not limited to: No room for a stock generator under that hood, I'm working on solid mounting a small one off an MG with a custom gen pulley and an idler/tensioner pulley... pain in the****. I did manage to get the halibrand quickchange all set up and****embled, the driveshaft shortened, and the brake lines all run. New kingpins installed, steering box rebuilt, some other misc stuff... won't be long!
