10lbs of*****e in a 5lb sack... MG generator, Ford fan hub, some plate steel and we're in business! And it all JUST BARELY fits under the hood!
Yea...it's tight, I think with some careful grooming/routing they will clear. But it's close! I just HAD to narrow that grille didn't I...
It's pretty funny we have to go all the way to NJ to see it in person, when it's only like an hour away right now..
MG? Certainly you would have wanted something that kept the smoke inside where it belongs. I can't wait to see this thing in person. Will you keep it long enough for Bonneville next year or will it be overseas by then?
Haha, yea... Lucas, prince of darkness... it's the only thing that would fit! But it is 12v and BRAND new so hopefully I'll get more than a few miles out of it. We shall see what becomes of this car, not sure if it's really a "long haul trip" kinda vehicle... maybe.
I have been wrenching my everlovin'**** off on this thing all week, every spare moment... Lots of good progress! Of course my wife wound up in the hospital and the transmission in my daily decided that this was the week to lunch itself... why not, right? She's home and on the mend and a pal loaned me his spare truck so I could get this pile finished up for ROG next week. Awesome wife... awesome friend. Kohlerkustom stainless mono-man-hallock... Lumpy bum...
Thanks boys, I love it... I sure hope it runs as good as it looks! I've gotta run some fuel lines and a couple wires, fix a couple wallered-out spark plug holes in the old heads, bolt down the heads, and finalize the exhaust pipes and she should be ready to fire up and break in. Probably sunday AM... watch for a video shortly thereafter.
BARELY, and I mean just barely. I think I will eventually bubble the hood a bit there because it touches the plug wires and I'm sure over time it will chafe and short out but for now, it's gonna have to wait. I've got a prioritized list going of small things like that... ****uming it fires right up and I don't have any BS to deal with in that regard, I'll spend some time next week fussing with some of the details. Right now I'm just doing what NEEDS to be done to run.
Andy, it may just be me but I think you nailed the look with the 28/29 shell instead of the tack nose. The proportions are perfect.
