Wiring... brake bleeding... cotter-pinning... greasing... tightening... general farting around with linkages and various piddly little*****...
That thing turned out amazing. Love it! Great details and the stance is perfect. Good luck at the race!
hey andy, so hows the radiator in the trunk working so far ? is the weather up there still hot ? car looks great.
Thanks guys! Mark, I'll definitely need a larger radiator for the street, but it worked great for the beach. I have lots of room for a larger one. Mike I wish I could say I mopped the floor with the other v8 guys, but I had a few issues... sat am I woke up and checked the oil and it looked like pea soup... 7 plugs were nice and dry and one was sopping wet. Pretty sure it's just a head gasket leak but I didn't have time to investigate. I changed the oil, poured some blockseal in the water crossover and beat the hell out of it. It seems to have stopped the leak but I'm going to pull the head and see what's up there once I recover from the 6 weeks of thrash here. Speaking of which, in my rush to get the car ready, I must have neglected to finish weld the clutch eq bar mount on fully and it peeled away from the frame sometime during my first pass... in which I was up against richie whalen's blown 3w. I did manage to keep right on his heels so that was encouraging anyhow. I spent the rest of the weekend shifting by standing on a pair of vice grips clamped on the cross shaft tab on the transmission trying to force it in and out of gear and consequently getting my**** handed to me.... The engine runs VERY strong despite the dist still having a SBC advance curve and only running on the front carb, I just flat ran out of time to fuss with it. I drove it around the block once on thurs and we loaded it up. Once the bugs are worked out and it's dialed in, it's gonna be a little rocket! Regardless, what an absolute blast... I got the car there and done enough to play with it, 2 days of racing against the coolest cars, hanging with great friends, drinking too much, meeting new folks, my band the Telltale Signs played sat and sunday, rocked out with Plato Zorba, Ba Babes, and we got to play with one of my favorite bands ever, the Swingin' Neckbreakers... cripes, I'm still smiling!
So cool you made it, ran the beach and had a great time! Now wipe that grin off your face and get it fixed! My '27 T Roadster build: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t= 734383
Great to hang with you this weekend! Car is spot-on! Getting those little finishing touches done should make the next Swedish owner happy! Until our paths cross again......keep in touch/ brother!
I loved seeing it and you this weekend Andy! Car is so cool and I can't wait to see it finished off. Your filthy**** left all this grease marks on my tent. Adds a little bit of manliness it needed Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Just read this whole thread. WOW!!! Splendid build Andy. Thanks for sharing your take on this one, it's killer. I've often wondered what I would do about getting the seat down in the '27 I've got tucked away for a similar build.......now I know, thanks. This turned out to be such a******in little roadster I don't know how you could part with it. If you do you'll just have to find a couple of days later to build a replacement Frank
Here's a few from FB... headed out, Richie's blown******mobile and I duking it out... At speed! Me and Pete D...
A few more... next to Justin's kickass coupe, this thing sounded so awesome and has one cool story behind it as well. Battle of the 27's... Dieselbronco's tacknose roadster... Nose by Pat Pryor. That little banger almost had me!
Damn, pictures are awesome! I have to know, how tall are you and what are your seating accommodations? I've been thinking about seat height for mine for a while now. You are tucked in there for a T, obviously due to the dropped to the bottom of rail arrangement.
