Thanks fellas, I, for one, just don't care for the look of them... and they're those cheapo lawn-mower-esque elements that plug up in 2.3 minutes of drive time and make your engine run like it has the choke on permanently. Plus, they're way too tall for this car. The carb tops are just proud of the hood line so it will likely just get a couple layers of screen held in place with a hose clamp on each carb and it will still need a blister to clear. Steve, just gotta dig past offy till you hit edelbrock, dig a little more and you'll find weiand. You goin to autorama?
Is that one inch square tubing? What thickness? Does it seem like its going to be rigid enough once braced? I'm thinking about making a similar deal for my modified soon.
yea, it's 1" .120" wall, I've added some triangulated bars and gussets and a brace on the backside of the steering box and it is plenty sturdy now. I'm also going to add a support collar to the sector extension, it doesn't move when turning the wheels, but I don't think it will hurt.
Such a ******in' build! I wish I coulda met ya at bonneville last year, saw your coupe, stopped me dead in my tracks...then...my buddy (H I) told me it was a four door...then..I fell over dead..So... I hope to haunt bonneville as a ghost this year and maybe introduce myself (if I can stick my hand through my white sheet). Anyhow, yeah.. my flathead loves screen only..especially at a mile high..Cant wait to see your rig in the afterlife in august! Matt.

the amount of work, quality work I must add you get done in short periods of time does two things to me... 1. makes ME tired just thinking about it 2. makes me realize how lazy I truly am In other words... keep up the great work, I'm sure that thing is going to be killer!
Wow Andy, that is looking good, I haven't checked the build in a while! I like the flathead as well. Good talking to you and the rest of the bones in Detroit. Looks like you have a nice big shop now as well.

Thanks guys, not much progress to report, I spent 5 days in Detroit, came down with the flu, and have been playing catch-up at trying to make a living ever since! I hope you all aren't disappointed with this slower pace, haha! I did blow the body completely apart to fix a few things and prepare it for some reinforcement and new subrails. I'm hoping to get a few hours in on it this weekend, the driver's door needs an entire new bottom fabricated, inner and outer and I'd like to get the Ebrake bracketry/mechanism sussed out. After that's done, I should be able to disassemble the chassis for some finish welding and move forward from there. On to more exciting things like engine****embly and building up the QC...
Time for an update! Love that clutch pedal. Very crafty. Any chance of seeing a pic of your louver dies?
I'll update with some pics later today... I made a new door bottom inside and out for the driver's side, it was roached, poorly repaired and stuffed with bondo. Started making a steering wheel, got the engine back from the machine shop and started cleaning up the ports... nothing too substantial but progress is progress I guess.
huh, got distracted by the A roadster. Been screwing together an original deuce frame for it... model a crossmembers, 40 ford center X...
back at it... patched up the bun panels, lined up the body and started welding it to the frame... I made a 3 pc ally hood with lunchbox latches today, also started making some ally wheel discs too.

Thanks brother, let me know about those bearings, I need em for this car! I know, right? (all pics stolen from a track roadster thread on here somewhere...) Dig that little windshield on number 20, just enough to keep big dirt clods flying off the left front wheel from hitting the driver in the face... And look at the body on 19 at the bottom... looks like flush fit doors and another little trick I did with mine here as well, the seam between the deck and body is welded up and smoothed... funny... maybe the car had a prior life in some other form of racing or on the street...? wish i had that seat!
Oh man, that's first time I've seen that car on all fours, looks KILLER!! What are your plans for the grille?
