I remember it in black too, but I'm not as old as some of you guys :D

But yeah....I think blue is best. Paint it some other color, and you no longer have the "Paddy Wagon," you just have a cool C-cab.

  3. I'm definitely partial to the black model posted earlier!

Think this is probably my all-time favorite. Ok, ok, its a show car, and the flowers are a little fruity, but it has GREAT late sixties stance, and i love the FI small-block.

They also have it in all red but blue is what everyone knows it by. Monogram released it in blue and black.

It's a Paddy wagon,.....the reference is to "Paddy"s,...ie either Irish cops and/or Irish criminals being hauled off to jail in early NYC.

For what it's worth; early Police vehicles were traditionally either BLUE or BLACK, fire dept rigs are traditionally either RED or WHITE.

:D And as a side note, it has been my experience,..most customers are usually wrong.
However, the very fact that they have the money that we want trumps their lack of knowledge.

I guess I should defend my "Red" statement. I don't think it should be red since that is a fire department color. I was trying to say it sounds as though the customer is using the idea of the original paddy wagon and wants to build one which is his own....not a clone. I personally would do it with a white body, black fenders, engine, and trans. I would use all chrome with a little br*** accents. I would put a gold leaf star on the side with silver leaf lettering. I would then cover everything with a heavy metal flake. This would combine the original theme of the car but give it a modern style with the black and white but would take it back to traditional era of the style of build with the heavy flake.

I didn't think that this thread would turn into a color debate. This is not going to be an exact replica something I mentioned in the first post. To make it more practical there will be differences anyway. So i guess out of fairness I should re-start this thread with Paddy removed from the ***le so that we can all enjoy seeing it built rather than being stuck on color. Nothing is written in stone yet as this thing has just begun. We are trying to convince the owner to stay as close to the model as possible and we'll see where that goes.

When is the last time we have seen a C-cab 60's show rod built on the HAMB?

Pictures brother pictures. I'm excited to see this thing get started!!!!! I'm already subscribed to this one!!!! You will be starting a new trend with this build. I bet more of us build something similar to the old novalty style now....you already have my wheels turning.

If you guys don't like the color choice, you probably aren't going to like what we have to do to make this a driver! That's what we are building here is a driver! It's not going to be an exact replica of the model. If you don't like that, you should probably just not look at this thread, it will only piss you off.

    Soooooo.......

What is it going to share with the paddy wagon? If everything is different including the color, seems you are building a really bad *** C cab, but nothing like the paddy wagon.

    Sooo.........

Don't call it the paddy wagon, call it one bad *** C cab.

    Just not the paddy wagon....LOL

I personally don't give a rat's *** if you guys paint it pink with green stars, it sounds super cool, well, unless it's pink with green stars. A C-cab has been on my mental build list for a long time. Has there ever been a 60's show rod C-cab build thread on here? Although I've seen chatter of C-cabs on here lately.
