Now that I have your attention.....I am installing a BW T-10 in my 1952 F-1 flathead V8. I have the Offy adapter plates and a new ClutchMasters 10" pressure plate and a Weber aluminum flywheel along with a Mustang disc. When I measured the depth of the input shaft to the flywheel bearing, it was too short. So, I am having the adapter plates milled down to give me another .25" of insertion depth. That will give me enough to hold the input shaft. However, I don't get very much depth on the clutch disc hub. It is a Mustang 10" disc with 1 1/16" 10 spline McLeod. Does anyone have any experience with shimming the flywheel 1/8 to 3/16" backwards to give me more "bite" on the input shaft. Or...even better...is there another clutch disc with a longer hub towards the transmission? Thanks for any help!
Before you do all that make a phone call to Wilcap, Novak, or AdvancedAdapters. If my memory is any good, Ford small block T-10's and FE block T-10's used different length input shafts. You need the long one. I can tell you that improper mating of the input shaft to the crankshaft pilot bearing will lead to catastrophic transmission failure. I'm so dumb it took 3 transmissions to convince me.
