As great as this hobby is, every now and somebody does something extra special that just deserves to be made public. Last Saturday afternoon, David from the board (Davidstowingllc) stopped by the shop to look at some"A" frames in consideration for a project he's contemplating. While he was there we were looking at the 37 chopped top Olds and I was telling him that I'd like to drop in a 455, paint it Army drab, then stencil it like a staff car ***igned to SSGT. "Doc" Rocket. Kind of a salute to the Doctor Oldsmobile and the Olds Rocket motors, just for fun. I said I was just waiting for a 455 Olds to pop up. (I'm one of those strange birds that likes to put a Olds, in an Olds, a Ford in Ford, etc) He said he had one he was saving for a project, but he'd keep an eye out if another came through the door. Monday night he called me and told me to come pick one up. And not just any one, but HIS motor. A 1972 455 4 bbl with air and cruise. I asked him how much and he said just come pick it up. I just wanted to take the time to publically say THANK YOU. I promise you the first ride once the good Doc is street worthy! Bruce
Wow.. that's cool. You met him on here? That ought to be well worth the $50 Alliance Membership to keep the HAMB going. I may be a FNG with a paid ***le, but after having a popular forum that I was a member of vanish overnight because the host got tired of paying for it with no thanks, I joined up. No "Hey guys, pitch in" or even leaving the old stuff up. GONE. 8 years of posts, techs, jokes, fun, pics, etc. $50 is a small price to pay for lots of free advice, good conversation, help, parts, and guys who know what they are talking about - not to mention the "karma" parts and build help that many enjoy.
