I've lost my motivation.

  1. Some of us was wondering what had become of you but none of us wanted to be first to ask so we just pretended everything was alright and now here you are depressed. The whiskey don't taste like it used to. I'll bet you've let several days go by without even thinking about your compulsive ************ needs.
It happens to the best of us.
I'm going to give you some useful advise. Go see your Dr. and get checked out. You are at the age where lots of stuff changes for men. Yeah, you ain't a punk kid anymore.
A good friend of mine had this happen, He always was the model of stability. Boom! In the dumps and couldn't shake it. Long story short, after talking with a shrink he got a blood workup and found that his testosterone level had dropped way low. He took a pill regimen and that brought him back. It happens. Please look into it. Depression can be brought on by real events but if it's from a chemical imbalance there is no need to endure this hell an instant longer that necessary.
I've been to this place and know from experience.

    Yours Truly,

See a Doc about the back...

The BEST therapy I've ever had for depression?

    GO RACING!

Take the hot rod to the dragstrip and work her over on Test & Tune night. Try a few new things, like jets or timing. Put the demon tune on her and push it a bit.

I promise you'll feel better by the time you have to drive home.

For what its worth, I've missed your words around here too.

Nadeem, you are most welcome to join us at the Hot Rod Reunion. We have good food, drinkies, rods and customs and yound chickies. A weekend hanging with the Vipers will make you feel young because you can pick on us because we're OLD FARTS. Sort through all the advice, take what you want and need. Hell, I'm going to take some of this advice too. Some of it is ******** but there's some wisdom too. Hook yourself up with some punk bluegr***ers. Never underestimate the healing power of fast banjo music, like the Biscuit Burners or the Freighthoppers.

Really, the invitation is sincere. Take care of yourself. Getting older is worth the time.

Luckystiff, don't write it off due to your experiences!
Nads, I also had a bout of an illness that kicked my ***. Long term pain, and then a bad bout of pneumonia, that took all the wind out of my sails. Recovery was difficult, esp. with some family problems, and a couple deaths in the family at the same time.
My GP talked with me and my GF, and decided to put me on Zoloft. It helped me get over short term depression, and get back on track. Didn't stay on it long, gradually got off it when cir***stances got better, and my at***ude got better. It CAN help for short term problems you can't get over easily.
I do say that long term it would be problematic. It smooths out all life's ups and downs, but also takes the edge off your drive to succeed, enthusiasm, and your creativity. I wouldn't want to be on it long term!

Lots of good advice here. I'll touch on stuff already mentioned:

    yoga

    exercize

    doctor

    chiropractor

    diet

    family and friends

    vacation.

I just got back from a week of ****ing off at a beach motel up in old orchard beach maine. gave me renewed energy and made my life seem managemble again, instead of so overwhelming I just freeze.

you got a nice support group on this board, too. Must be nice to be loved!!!! <sarcasm + self-pity>

I'm on paxil but only do 20 mg a day. So American and lazy to just pop a pill and let it do all the work for you! I was chronically depressed and I know longer have any dark dreary days and I do believe chemical imbalance is a signifigant cause of depressions.

I sold Harely today and sold my Plymouth, money is as scarce as fun is around here lately.... I bought back my shoebox fron Chopped50ford and told the boss I'm taking 3 day's off next week. He ain't happy but **** it. I'll rolling the shoebox to San Deigo getting a room catch a few movies, and sleep..... Take care of yourself man. Life is too short.....

low dosage and short term may very well be a good way. i didn't realize until i dropped it that my dosage was unreal. basiclly as you said with your case it had some major life issues that trigger me going back to meds, which they chose the big Z. well things got worse and worse for a year or so and they just kept upping my dosage. didn't realize until i started talking with some others on it that i was taking 2-4 times mg that most everyone i spoke with was in the end. i will say when i was on it i felt a vast improvment in my overall being. maybe the fact i was very poor at the time and was getting my treatment at the county mental health facility and getting meds from there because i couldn't even afford those. maybe it was just easier for them to pump more and more in me and the result went bad. i still ahve times when i consider going back on something because i probably really do need it. esp since i don't really drink very much any more and i stopped self medicating with pot several years ago. i don't know maybe your right but i will say if you search the web you can find problems are common for long term high dose users of Z that stopped taking it. even years later. the worst part is all the info i found has said it can be even worse if you try to go back on it and basiclly have to start all over with a new product. Wellbutrine was mentioned and i have heard lots of good on it from a few people. as said i would probably be better off back on something and consider it often...ken....

I'm not gonna bother reading the rest of this thread because most of the GUYS have the same answer........booze, *** and cars. What I AM going to say is that I have missed you. Wondered where you had gone to. Don't give up. It's because of guys like you that I find my own personal strength to continue building and going even when I feel like I'll NEVER accomplish anything. There aren't many on the Hamb that I look up to with such respect, most I look at as my equals, but you I certainly hold on a higher level and can't stand to see you falter. So please pull yourself back together, there are others who secretly rely on you.:)

Very true. Out of control blood sugar causes LOTS of similar symptoms. I was diagnosed 4 years ago, and for 6 months or so before I finally gave in and went to the doctor to find out what was going on , I felt like death. Pissed off, tired all the time, zero energy, zero desire kind of death.

Now that its under better control I only feel that way half the time, so things are looking up. Seriously though, a simple blood test will tell you. People of all ages can get it, I was diagnosed at 29. I think you have the right idea by setting up an appointment. Theres nothing wrong with trying to find out what ails ya. Best of luck

  14. I need my Nads scratched.

Wait. I need to scratch my Nads.

    That's not right either.

Actually... I always look for Nads.

Whenever you post, it ****in cracks me up and I think "Where in sam hill does Nads come up with this ****?!!!" and you are one of 2 people I ALWAYS look for when you post (the other is Germ. Come back, Jack!)

Anyway. I look forward to your posts and I think I speak for 4,900 other people who frequent this board. I hope you fix whatever's broken and come back and make me laugh some more with your ****ed up thoughts and quotes.

  15. Hey Nadeem,
What you have there is post vacation blues. Most of us Europeans have that when we get back from a vacation in Florida or California. You took your family to the UK and now (even though you don,t realize it )your wondering whats the best place for them in the future. Or your back is just plain ****ed, that would do it too.

being a newbie and not even knowing nads i havent much right to say anything....so i will.

dude, if it's the **** going on in the world or just your life that's getting you down, remember that even if some of it affects you directly, life is what you make of it. and we aint so important on an idividual level, so all we have is right now, hell, there's women being ****d and **** right now as we speak....you cant let yourself think about it (too much).

all i know is youve has made me laugh a number of times with some of the **** youve said on here...and for that alone i respect you.

i hope you feel better, getting to that point however you need to...but obviously lots of people on here genuinely care about you, so take their lead and do the same. good luck.

and dont take antidepressants...they dont anti-depress ya. (at least that's my opinion...and ive tried em all!)

    peace.

I hope when you feel great and look back on this thread you realize what a great educational post it turned out to be. Five years ago I got diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I left the nuerologists office and ate absolutely perfectly for a year and a half, never went back to a doctor . I went into a mad rush to become my own favorite pinstriper which I havent done and my zest for life was fueled by thinking about the history of customs, custom car illustration, sleazy doo wop and having friends like Slag, the late Tom Severino and Joe the gindo creep as well as the rest of the characters in the Jersey custom world. They made it impossible to be overtaken by a possibly impending issue. Your love of music ,customs and everything else will get you through this. Dont let the fact that you are a worldly aware person work against you.
