Any guys here running a Roto-Faze??? Got pics?
What engines did they make 'em for? SBC?
I was at a shop awhile back and remember seeing one hanging on the wall. Didn't ask what it fit, but it 'appeared' to be for a BB Mopar. Had just the shaft with a tang.

A Roto-Faze is just one more of those cool items I'd like to find......:D

Any specs, info, history about these?

    Thanks Guys!!!

Thanks guys....are the dizzies made the same as always??? Is it a "traditional" part, so to speak? The website doesn't show much.
Kinda looking for feedback on how they work and how well....

I'll keep ya in mind Jim, thanks....

Rotofaze has been around since the early 60s (might be a little earlier, but someone with more historical knowledge of the company can correct me), I'd say they would be at home in a traditionaly styled car.

I have only heard good things about them....
I spoke with Joe at an Antique Nats one year and he swears by points distributors, he said (not verbatum) "i like points because i can see a problem if it arises, more than likely they will never fail if you are on top of mainenance... an HEI is a little more difficult to troubleshoot visually...", I believe he is right, his explaination stuck in my head.

    Sell more VIDEOS!....hahaha!:D

Looking at the pic, do these require two coils? How are they wired?
The one I saw at that shop didn't have the two sides with 4 (at least that's how I remember it, need to go back)....it looked more 'conventional', maybe wasn't complete....

I think the Kooky distributer is a Spalding Flame thrower. I have a Roto-Faze distributer on my Packard. Works fine, uses Ford inards. I also have a very low miliage Roto-Faze for a 270-302 GMC 6, could be used for a 235 type Chevy. For sale make offer.

I have one and besides the overhead it made the biggest performance difference in my model a ford. It's a points dizzy that has worked reliably at 9000 rpm, On race cars, not my old banger.
It is an American made first cl*** over engineered piece, After a bad showing at a hill climb due to a piece of **** Mallory I decided only the best will do and I bought one. $450 is what i paid, and that involved some custom machining and welding. It's cheap for a hand made piece that comes with REAL Tech help. It looks tall as it is on a tower to clear my valve cover.

I bought a used Roto-Faze for a SBC years ago, it's the kind with one cap up top not the two out the sides. I haven't used it yet.

I also have had a few Flamethrowers over the years, and they are a completely different animal.

I've got a Rotofaze for sbc that's the style of the one on Sawracer's engine, and it's bolted to a turned down base from a '60s Corvette distributor to make use of the mechanical tach drive. When I picked it up, I thought that it was a homemade hybrid, but I've since seen two others constructed in the exact same fashion.

The original Roto-Faze uses horizontally opposed caps. They are a true dual point dual coil ignition. The later ones that are produced are still dual point but single coil. Coil technology has come a long way since the late 50s when these were originally produced. Here are a few pictures of mine. The picture quality isnt that great but you get the idea. I got this from the original owner, he bought it new in '58.

This was my way of making a duel coil. Of course on the Banger it fires two plugs, but on a V8 you just phase the roters at 90 degrees and run it like two four cylinder motors. These are 2000 Pinto distributers.

If you send that one to Joe Panack at Roto-Faze I'm sure he can make it fit a Cad, or most anything else with 8 cylinders.

I would bet it,s a worm gear drive to two 4 cylinder distributers mounted as you see. Under the distributer caps would be two 4 cylinder distrubuters and they would be set like any four banger. The ignition is just two four cylinder units on one crankcase. Like mine, but cooler.

Sixcarb you can change the gear on your rotofaze find a stock cad dis .

The rotofaze uses two coils and separate points they are 4 banger type points
when I had the kookie car I had to learn alot on how to use and set the rotofaze.I also learned that when one set of points go`s out you only have one side of you motor working,so your 8 cyclender turns into a 4 cycelender.
Also finding points was hard I found out ol willies jeep cap rotor and points worked .but that was then I don`t know if you can find that stuff as easy anymore lol.Hope that helps if you get one I`ll try to help....................

I have one of Joe's on our race Banger, It works great. It wouldn't clear our hood, so we took it apart{whoa} it is complicated, and cut it down. Joe came by the shop and shook his head that we were able to do it.I can't take credit for the job, as a friend that works for me did it. But it was a hard one.--TV

Couldn't find an early one so I had Joe build one for my 50 cad engine, He put a crab cap on it. looks and works great. I have a small block Ford one with the wires out the the top that I would sell pretty cheap. The guy that just found one doesn't know how lucky he is.
