Hello. I'll be in Jacksonville in May, 22nd to 27th. Where / when are the cruise nights, shows, swap meets, shops I should go see? I'll have a rental car and do not mind short trips. Best wishes, David.

Not really any cruise nights that I remember. I lived in Saint Augustine for a year until last August. Beautiful beaches in Saint Augustine by the way. Take advantage! :D

The Merrill Rd Cruise at Krystals is the best out of the bunch, the rest are the PT cruiser/thinderchicken clubs of Amuricuah....

Not alot automotivly speaking in J-ville.....lots of really sweet cars around here....however none of these retards round here drive em (none is an overgeneralization....but MOST don't) I don't get it....

Alb. NM is a much smaller population and land m*** and has way more auto related stuff to do than us....

THEN you get the contingent that *****es that nothin cool ever comes to J-ville....yet when Goodguys came for 3 years inna row they ended up having to drop the venue cause no one came

    J-ville ****s............Rant over.........

There is a cruise-in every Saturday nite...

On the 4th Saturday, (May 28th)there are actually 2 shows.
The one listed at K-Mart on Blanding 1/2 mile north of 103rd Street.
One not listed is at K-Mart @ I-295 and Normandy Blvd.
Normandy Blvd is 1 exit south from I-10 on I-295 on the westside.
At the bottom of the exit ramp, turn left, go up the hill to the 1st light
(there is a Shell and a BankAmerica) and turn left. K-Mart is on the left.behind the Shell Station. A bunch of the older stuff (40s and 50s) show up.
And then about 9pm every Sat. night at Sonic on Beach Blvd (1/2 way between Southside Connector and 9A) a lot of people show up.

PM me if you need better directions and other info !

There is test and tune going on at Gainesville Raceway Wednesday nights (I see you are not going to be around Saturday which is race night down there). Won't be much HAMB friendly stuff on Wednesday, but at least you can catch some stuff in motion rather than a bunch of old wrinklies in lawn chairs. Take your rental car out there and put the insurance to good use.

Not much else going on during the week. There is club cruise ins for late model clubs (F-bodies and stangs) and the ricers gather on the west side and pretend that they are the fast and furious. You also have the Mud Bogs going on during the weekends. It may sound redneck to you northerners and west coasters, but you can see some very unique fabrication on some of these trucks, you just might learn a thing or two.

But as others have said there isn't much else going on, we are unfortunately one of the hardest hit cities from the recession. A lot of people have left and out of those of us here, times are more than hard, especially if you had anything to do with the housing sector.

It is just a couple hours ride. Head over to 301 south and then local roads, real nice day trip, I was in & out of Jax 1973-2005 with US Navy, lots of car action but Garlits' place needs to be on a bucket list and he constantly rotates displays.

Garlits Museum, Daytona Race track and museum, Hairy Gl*** shop (funny car bodies), ch***is fab shops on north side and westside for roundy-round cars, AACA show at Orange Park Dog Track, Rod Runners Annual Show, Gainesville Raceway, OLD junk yards on US 1 just north of Daytona, OLD junk yards just south of Blackshear, Ga. (best one has stacks of fibergl*** "SHAY" bodies crated along fence on east side of US 1, ask to tour his private museum), The big Harley "Emporium" just north of Daytona along I-95. Have a nice stay!
