Boy howdy, that needs some serious scab removal. It looks like someone scabbed that mess on rather than actually hunt for the correct length shocks to use with the stock F-1 shock brackets that are actually pretty nice looking and used on other Ford hot rods all the time.

This is what the brackets should look like F-1 front shock brackets.jpg

A whole lot stronger and less ugly.
I'd clean all the scabs off and start over on that one.

Get your axle and springs set up first, then look at shocks and mounting them

Or you can use these shock mounts for converting over from Houdaille's on cars. They bolt up to the factory shock holes in the frame and will land the upper shock eye over the bottom mount. Only issue is the inner fender will need to be cut out to clear, as the inner fender overhangs the outside of the frame.

I agree, there are a few " modifications" that will need removed. Those mounts look much more appropriate.

  6. As for your picture posting, I use the App on my phone. Even if I started the thread on my desk computer I just pull up the thread on my app and add pics

    Looking better!
Might have a look at the steering box mounting bracket for cracks while you're in there. Fairly common to find stress cracks in them.
