So Jake picked up the T today and I am excited for him.
He's got a good start on what will become a Kick Ass Hot Rod.

This is the car that me and my dad were building for him to drive to the Cheaters show. I scored the body from WingNuts (thanks dude) and had enough stuff left over from the Bleedster to build a whole car. It was to be a week long build, put it together with whatever was around, just to get it to the show.

We were doing fine and it was pretty fun to be building the car with my dad, until we realised the Nailhead we had for it was shot. That pretty much ended the Cheaters Show goal.

The show came and went, so I decided I was going to finish the car and get it on the road to sell. I even came across a running 401 so this time it was going to run, and with no rediculous deadline I spent some time building the frame to make the car sit well, as before it was to just be a Jalopy.

So I z'd the it front and rear and stretched the Model A frame till it looked right. It worked out kind of cool as the car looks channeled from the front, but it's not. This allowed the car to sit well, but still retain all of the room inside the allready small body. Plans were for a faux belly pan to cover up the frame rails on the side and to give the car more depth visually.

So as I was building it I heard of this Model A sedan Street Rod project for sale. I couldn't let it pass, but I was broke so I made a deal with Jake to buy the T as is.
Which worked out for him, cause he was looking for a roadster project and me cause I was able to buy the A.

Jake was trying to figure out what motor he should run in it when I stumbled across a running Y block with a full synchro 3 speed. So after waiting a few weeks for the motor and some other stuff we fabbed up some mounts and with the help of young JohnnyCola we mounted it all up.

The Y block is perfect for this little car as I thought the nailhead looked too big. It all balances out pretty well.

So anyway today was the big day for Jake to take it home.
I was pretty excited to push it outside and get a good look at it when my GAYNESS staired me right in the face.........

I started to push the car and as I would steer it one way it would turn the other way!!!

    HaHaHaHa........OOPS.

It seems when I made the steering box mount in the fury of trying to get it done in a week, I diddn't realise the pitman arm should point up instead of down.

Theses are the things that make me gay.

Because of clearance issues with the nailhead the box was shoehorned into a tight spot, pretty much the only place it could have gone without using a different box.

Anyway now I will just have to lower the box to make the pitman arm point up and there is plenty of the clearence with the Y Block. It's really not that big of a deal, except that I'm a Fag.

Jake's got a lot of work ahead of him, but this will be a really neat car after he put's his own ideas and details on it. There's gonna be a lot of new hot rods hitting the streets around here in spring. Can't wait.

Does it work the way it used to?

It won't work the way I used to do it?

    WTF?

Nice roadster! I love it! So tell us, what kind of rear end and rear radius rods are in the T? What did the full-syncro 3-speed tranny come out of?

    thanks again (homo)

    Southfork:
I think the trans is out of a 62? fairlane
the rear end is out of a 74 firebird
the radius rods are paper mache

    HaHa Tango lessons........

The rear wishbones are 47 Ford, mounted to the axle.

I still can't get over that it steers backwards.
    I think it's pretty funny.

"........turn left......NO! The OTHER LEFT!!" Years ago at a show, the host Club had built a big go-cart thing that had the steering set up backwards. They got two man (or woman) teams. One pusher and one steerer. You had to push it through a course in a field set up with cones. It was hysterical! Husband steering and wife pushing and husband going the wrong way and cussing the wife.......drunken buddies just about coming to blows because each thought the other was stupid. Guess it wouldn't work on the street?

Sweet lookin' little project though......... [IMG]

Awesome!! Looks like the Y block is a natural fit. The car looks "right". Way better than the tractor look.
Great job on building a solid roller.
Jake...looks like you got yourself a hot rod. Call if ya need a hand.

    Bob,

I'm totally in awe of your productivity. It took me three weeks to fuck up a paint job. How do you find the time to get so much done?

Did you use the custom "BLEED" steering gear box bracket with the Y block...? Or did you manufacture another one...? [IMG]

That was one slick looking bracket! [IMG]
