Great show and great cars as always, the swap meet this year was lacking though.. I was hoping to score.

 

I bought quite a few pieces, and my first ever 1932 part, a headlight bar. One young fellow was even doing free delivery- modelA axle and rad, he was a good sport. A few more vendors would have been welcome.

Thanks for the photos. I've had this on my list for several years, but didn't make it, again. I was in that area earlier this summer. Maybe next year.

Any ballpark guess on how many rods were there?

 

I asked about a car count, but the fellow I talked to wasn’t sure. I would say 300 cars that were hardcore Hamb approved, with another couple hundred that met the age requirements, about 30 mini bikes, a dozen period correct motorcycles, a handful of rockabilly bands to make your day. The way to experience this show is to camp onsite for the weekend, that is the goal for another year.

Good idea, might be outside the range of my capabilities and above my pay grade.

 

I got back a little bit ago from the show, and as usual the guys did an unreal job of putting on a great show. Seriously, this show should be on people's "must attend" list.

Unlike a lot of shows, this show has a real vibrant night life, and the folks keep the party going well past midnight with the bands playing just as late. The show itself is a little off of the beaten path, so they don't have to worry about disturbing neighbors.

From experience now having attended this show several times, the best course of action is to camp there. Cambridge and Guelph have hotels, but it's a good 20 min+ drive to the hotels from the show, and if you want to hang late and enjoy some adult beverages, which you will, then it's a bit of a long haul late back to the hotel. Lots of people bring actual campers, which is great. But this year I brought a tent, air mattress, and sleeping bag, and slept like a baby. I even took a nap on Friday after driving the 8 hours up so I wouldn't be totally shot late in the evening.

Food trucks are on site and had excellent food.

For folks in the States, crossing the border is a breeze, and most banks will exchange your CAN currency for USD if you go home with a few extra bills.

The cheapest hotel rom I saw in Cambridge was over $100 a night, so $75 all in is a steal, and even moreso for folks coming in from the States. That's barely $60 USD. So for a 2 day show, bands, a swap meet, music, and a place to crash... sort of seems like a no-brainer for me.

And FWIW, the bands that play are actually bands that are worth watching. There was that one kid there that played a couple sets, was an absolute SAVAGE on the telecaster. I'm not one to usually sit and listen to bands at shows, but that kid made me stop and watch. The other bands were great as well, and keep the party going late. Not just country and rockabilly as well, sort of something for everyone.
