Leave ALL that muddy water on the track.....hrm2k is going to need it all to break his fall. Very clever missy! Hey, you bringing "The Blender"? I sure hope so. Man I LOVE that thing....and of course the drinks it blends. If so, I'll bring the banana rum, mix and cups.
The anticipation is building as there's only a couple days left! The thrash continues to get everything roadworthy ('52 f-1 truck and old camper!). My buddy Wolfy called me today and says he is building a teardrop camper from scratch and will be towing it to The Showdown with his '30 Ford coupe. The whole hot rod lifestyle doesn't get any better than this!
Was chasing electrical gemlins in Big Olds till mid-night last night at Scott's place. I still don't have headlights. I HAD to come to work today, huge morning meeting. Scott's going to try figure it out today and get Big Olds ****oned up. Hopefully I can leave tonight, if not I can't leave till light of day Friday morning. I hate **** like this at the last minute. Keep your fingers crossed.
Local TV weather is still being friendlier to us with light rain today into tomorrow morning. Then chance of showers Saturdat evening...I'll still stick with the local news!
No rain! I ordered sun all weekend. You cant pay any attention to weather people. They hate Hot Rods and want you to stay home. Remember last year? It rained for two weeks straight, but on Saturday? all Sun. God likes Hot rods.
Weather is traditional and a must for Jalopy Showdown activities. Just finished another complete brake job on my '49 Chevy 1/2 T daily driver only vehicle after 44K miles and am ready to go. See you there. My truck is faded red with cream visor and wheels. Camping with some Inliner guys come over and introduce yourselves.
Are they having the Inliner meet this year as well? I remember seeing the banner then finding out after the fact it was an actual meet. Or are you all just camping together? Either way, I need to get over there and introduce myself. I've fielded questions from a lot of guys about my Rajo in the Inliners club. Thanks for the reminder!
Anyone know the name of the old style drive-in burger joint near the showdown ? Makin the 5 + hour trip rain or shine / Rollin in radials for the rain though...uuuugggh
For once i don't care if it rains! i have wipers and defrost now! WOOHOO! haha Last year was *****..no wipers or heat and it rained all the way there and back.. I'll be packing the truck up tonight and headed out early in the am tomorrow with the whole crew and then some.. see ya'll.. Tony
They are having their deal at the pavilion at the far end of the camping grove, at the bottom of the hill from the museum. Great bunch.
Reply to kooldeuce. I don't know about hamburger places but there's a cool old 1950s silver diner just up route 15 in Dillsburg on the west side. Good place for breakfast.
I'm heading out for the first leg of my trip this afternoon. Gonna make Williamsport by this evening, on to Latimore on friday morning. Got the pickup all tuned up and ready to go. I'll have a little vendor tent set up where I'll be selling my t-shirts and some old ford junk, stop by and say hi!
printing posters like crazy today. headed out from here about 8am tomorrow. see ya'll there before supper. denise, good luck with the electrical gremlin. i'll do a little exorcism dance here for ya...
Tropical Treat is the only one i can think of and its about 15 to 20 mins from the showdown but still a cool place and some good ice cream.
MMMNNN. nothing like good PA cooking. I'm planning on Dieners Diner in Ronks on rt 30 for breakfast saturday. They open at 7:30 and have a buffet breakfast with all the traditional PA stuff. Not a tourist trap, plenty of locals eat here. This is worth going out of the way for for those coming to Latimore from the east.
The front end of Dave's '56 wagon will be going back together tonight, and we should be on the road heading up there by noon tomorrow. I've never heard of that Distelfink drive in, might have to check that out. Thanks for posting the info.
Looks like its shaping up for a good weekend, I plan on heading out tomorrow afternoon/evening some time for the festivities on friday night. I'll be coming in this 37, so feel free to say hey if you see me.
I was just up at Latimore and we are WAY better off than last year no matter what the weather does! We will have to rearrange some of the camping, but nowhere near the problems we had before. I'm going up to stay tonight so we'll see everyone there!
