Intent is not always apparent. I kind of doubt Ryan has annoyed someone enough to have them attack the site just to bring it down, but he is a self-described Hoodlum.
Judging from recent events and that there is very little commerce being conducted on the site (CC info or other money transfers here), it may be s****ing pictures and information to feed Large Language Models.

I find it disturbing that a "bot" is verifying I'm "not a bot"

 

I think I have been verified 50 or so times now in the last couple days. If there was ever any doubt about being human, I should now be good.

Thanks for the info on why we need the bot protection. I can’t imagine all the **** that you have to deal with to keep us from lots of trash.

I must surely be a bot victim. I get so many spam calls it's ****in maddening. "Yeah, me too Jocko. I get 2 or 3 a day sometimes. "I...****IN...WISH!" They start about 9a EST, they continue throughout the day. Yesterday I got 26, 2 days ago 33, in 1 week I got 127 spam calls. This has been going on for a year. Every ph number is an out of service number. They piggyback em is all I can figure. Filed an FCC complaint, nothing. On the federal no-call list. So what. "Don't answer they'll stop." ********. I've had 14 today so far. "Change your number." Sure, lemme dump the number I've had since the 90s just for them. "Here's an answer!" Sure, lemme pay $35/month for a call screening service. I have been seeing it on several websites I frequent.

 

When it comes to computers, I am dumber than a box of hood ornaments. I have no idea what a "bot" is, but this site has been great for keeping us appraised of any kind of problems and also saving us from issues.

(I'm sure that @Moriarity has something collected that can help...like kryptonite both paste and liquid).

How do these things "verify if you are human"? I have a label stuck over the camera on my computer (so I don't scare children or small animals) , and I have never felt a hand come out and feel my "bits" to check.
When I get pests, I use my varmint gun, or DDT. Maybe this will work on the hackers?
