Anyone headed to Gas City and Fairmount Indiana next weekend for the shows? Always a great event, considering this or Somerset show in KY next weekend.

Fairmount usually has a good swap meet section. Haven't been in a few years though.

I live within 7 miles of Gas City and 10 from Fairmount. I run between both shows. I prefer the Gas City show personally, but both are good. It is great to see all the cars out. I went by the Gas City park this evening. There is already a long line of cars parked along the road outside the park waiting to be the first cars in. I think they open the gate at 6AM. It's a riot. It looks like the Oklahoma land rush with everybody carrying lawn chairs to claim their spots. I think this will be my 14th year. I'll have to count the dash plaques.

I use to live out on S 600 E between 18 and Gas City, went to Eastbrook even though I was technically in the Marion district. Nice area, tons of great cars in central Indiana. Still miss Ivanhoe and their incredible tenderloin, onion rings and ice cream in Upland. For those not familiar with Indiana Tenderloin sandwiches, make the short drive to Upland and try one out, usually a lot of nice hot rods there during the Rod run weekend. Gilled or breaded, can’t go wrong.

Oh Yeah! Ivanhoe's is great. 3 miles from the house. Always crowded. A veritable gold mine across the street from Taylor University. We have Ivanhoe's for dinner every couple of weeks. They used to advertise 100 different flavored shakes. Maybe they still do. Shakes are not on my diet anymore.

Small world. I have been in my place for 42 years now. Probably lived within a mile or so of each other. I have a Marion address and an Upland phone number, and my son went to Eastbrook. As far as the tenderloins go, Rock's concession right at the show makes pretty darn good tenderloins. They are pretty large. They even sell 1/2 sandwiches to give you an idea.
I always go first for the heartburn deluxe Italian Sausage with all the onions and peppers. That usually cures me. and I'll have the tenderloin the next day.

Did not find much in the swapmeet I could use but picked up a carb for a guy at work and a extra gas tank for my 50s Johnson boat motor.

Nice scores, thanks for the pics. How was the turnout this year? I didn’t make it up and hit Somernites cruise instead.

swap meet seemed full, not a lot of buyers though, plenty of people just not many buyers. I never set one foot into the car show. I could tell by what was driving by that there was very little of what I am interested in

I think you shorted yourself by not checking out the show. As the show specifies pre '72, there were a lot of mustangs, camaros, chevelles, etc, etc, that don't fit the HAMB profile. There were also a lot of very nice cars and trucks that would be a big hit on the HAMB even with the HAMB's exacting standards.

Great time, I was at your swap spot Moriarty. Would have said hi if I knew it was you. Walked 4 1/2 miles each day including James Dean. Weather was great- not too hot or cold and no rain, also went over to bike event across river. One thing I noticed unfortunately- the rat rod movement is really big at Ducktail , much more so than up here in Michigan. Well it was really enjoyable.

Sounds like you made it to Jonesboro for the bike rally, love the brick roads in that little town.
