Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Rocky, Jan 23, 2005.

  1. Jangleguy posted a few shots of his little Anglia racer a few days back and some guys wanted to see his 61 Morris photos. He sent 'em to me tonight and I resized them to fit on the HAMB. Without further adu.......allow me to present my brother's [Jangleguy] 10.33 second 1961 MORRIS MINORRR!!!

  10. The last image for tonight. I like the hood better with the sooper dooper hood scoop [rear body piece from an old sprint car, turned around backward] but I don't think it'll fit over the tunnel ram...
Jangleguy can answer any and all queries regarding this machine..........

Does your bro's insurance man know he drives that on the street? I'd have to charge him double, cuz no guy could drive that Morris without "GETTIN' ON IT" Cool car Jangleguy

  12. OOps! I know I'd screw something up. I got the wrong image on the last post. Here's the correct one...sorry.

Thanks Rocky. Guess this officially completes my introduction/initiation ritual. Questions? Beuller? Anyone?
Ok then, if there are no further questions, I can consider myself introduced now, right?

Right you are, Mr. Conder. So I was going to do a photoshoot today that didn't happen, and realized I had my Brownie with me, and took these shots. You may notice that they suck dead goats - that's because I didn't wait the prescribed 1 hr after driving, before attempting to shoot pix - too much adrenaline flowing. Yes, I do nail it at least once during each drive, but only when the spirit tells me it's the right time - my insurance guy could be watching!
And T-handle: it's called an "affliction" these days...

  19. I know I had a brownie after riding in it at Bonneville.
It's a lot faster without my fat ass in it. We towed it out to B'ville once to get into the 130mph club. By the time we'd flat towed the car from Omaha to B'ville, it had rained and there was 5 inches of water on the course. We drove it out to the end of the road and parked it. Pretty soon, there was a crowd of rodders and racers there and someone mentioned we should just race on the access road. Jangleguy's Morris had salt gears [2.76's] in it but ol Jangle drag raced all comers anyway. The stall converter got a real workout but he never lost a race.
All the billet 32 ford roadster guys were agog at this little furrin car whippin up on everybody.
    Side note:::
I was driving my dad's trans am and Scotty was following on the access road....I kicked the Pontiac up to 125 and I looked in my mirror...he wasn't there! Half a second later he comes blastin past my left ear like I was still in low gear. Yeah, it goes 130...hell, it goes 135 in the 1/4!

  21. See alla them holes just below the back window? Guess who told Jangleguy to drill 'em? Jack Chisenhall said to if the car was going to try for 130...said the low pressure generated at that point would be filled from under-car air and keep it from lifting at the rear....cool guy who knows how to go 240 in a 53 stude...

I wish it went 135 in the 1/4 - actually only goes 127...(The 7-11 car I drive sure goes 135+ though!) But yeah, that B-ville trip was one of my all time favorite road trips - people and cars from all over the globe, bored with a rained out event, so we made our own fun! And I made some good friends that week, too...

Racefab: I was gonna whip up a snappy reply to your question, "What intersection is that?", but will play it straight. It's on the new overpass stem off the old "Big Y" intersection in Medford - I guess it's considered an addition to Hwy 62 (but it doesn't even have a name yet, as far as I know)...Roxy Ann hill in background...
Or were you just nerfing me???

  24. Scott, I have pictures of that car at the Americruise in Lincoln one of those years. I showed it to Rocky and if I can find it, I'll try to get it on here. I've always loved it. I'm glad to see you here on the HAMB. This Morris is wild! Keep us posted on its progress (no matter how slow it is). Welcome to the board.

Thanks Billy! Would be fun to see a shot of it from Lincoln - was it sideways, goin' down "O" street? My foot slipped off the clutch pedal! It's really fun being on here - sorry I resisted it so long - I've learned a LOT, and I just got here...Very humbling place - I like that...And I like anyone who drives the wheels off a '57 Pontiac, but that continental kit will slow you down (that's what I've heard)...

The car sounds like fun, but how the hell did you manage to pick a Morris of all things? There are a few that have been "adjusted" over here but they don`t seem to make the transition(UGLY) but yours is totally mental...little car, big engine=fun. The only Minor that I`ve seen that works over here is this one....
